Job summary

TranSource, Inc. is seeking a skilled-level automotive technician to diagnose and repair vehicles both on-site and in the field. You will perform installations, maintenance, and tests, coordinating with parts and service teams to meet customer needs.

The role requires ability to travel to clients, flexible scheduling, adherence to safety standards, and participation in manufacturer trainings. Applicants must have a clean driving record and pass background checks and a DOT physical.

FUNCTION

Functions as a skilled-level technician who is able to perform diagnoses and repairs in all areas, in addition to being specialized in particular areas of repair, and conducting services out in the field.

Essential Duties

(Other duties may be assigned. Must be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner.)

• Providing service and customer support during field visits, dispatches, or in the shop. Schedule is determined by customer needs. Must be flexible and understand that work schedule will change. Manager will provide as much notice as possible for off-schedule work.
• Performing all on-site installation, repair, maintenance and test tasks.
• Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
• Diagnoses cause of any malfunction and performs repair.
• Communicates with parts department to obtain needed parts.
• Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
• Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
• Communicates with shop foreman/service advisor/service manager immediately if additional work is needed, if work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
• Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
• Performs work as outlined on repair orders efficiently and accurately in accordance with dealership, factory, and customer standards.
• Road tests vehicles when required.
• Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
• Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
• Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor.
• Ensures that customers' vehicles are kept clean. Notifies Supervisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
• Maintains a clean and professional work environment including tools, equipment, shop and service truck to high appearance standards.
• Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools, computers, and manuals – (paper and electronic). Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were received.
• Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
• Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
• Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
• Must be able to fulfill essential job functions in a consistent state of alertness and safe manner and work alone out in the field.

Requirements

Salary Description

$15-$45 an hour
