Job summary

Bigge Crane and Rigging Co. is seeking a Field Service Mechanic to repair and maintain rough terrain, crawler, and mobile crane equipment, plus forklifts.

This role requires travel for extended periods and on-call nights and weekends for crane repairs at customer sites. You will diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and control systems, read schematics, and perform service tasks with a strong safety mindset.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience repairing and maintaining rough terrain, crawler, and mobile crane construction equipment; vocational training may be considered in lieu of experience.
  • Perform annual certifications and inspections.
  • Ability to perform tasks independently without direct supervision.
  • Computer literate with the ability to process information.
  • Strong work ethic with a commitment to quality.
  • Knowledgeable in troubleshooting various equipment lines, including Manitowoc, Grove, Terex, Tadano, Broderson, Kobelco, and Liebherr cranes.
  • A history of safe work habits.
  • Hard worker with a great attitude.
  • Must supply own hand tools and keep up-to-date tool inventory of service trucks.
  • Have a clean driving record and can drive a company service truck. Must keep trucks clean and maintained.
  • A high school diploma is required, and higher education, including vocational training, is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Must communicate effectively and professionally with customers, supervisors, and other personnel.
  • Knowledge and experience in assembling and disassembling various crawler cranes are a plus but not required.
  • Able to read schematics (both hydraulic and electrical).
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs.

Job Overview

The Field Service Mechanic will be responsible for repairing and maintaining rough terrain, crawler, mobile crane equipment, and various types of forklifts. The primary focus is on the service and repair of the equipment. Must be willing to travel for extended periods of time.
