The Field Services Manager is responsible for leading field operations related to machinery vibration and performance analysis, predictive maintenance, and condition monitoring for reciprocating and rotating equipment in the oil and gas industry. This role oversees field technicians, planner/coordinator, and SME’s ensuring high-quality service delivery, maintains compliance with safety standards, and serves as the primary technical liaison with customers. The ADS Field Services Manager is accountable for project execution, personnel development, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily field operations for reciprocating performance and vibration analysis, condition monitoring, and customer-requested projects.
- Supervise, mentor, train, and evaluate ADS analysts for analysis techniques, troubleshooting, and best practices.
- Monitor and assist the ADS Planner/Scheduler in the planning, scheduling, and coordination of field activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and thoroughly.
- Perform advanced vibration diagnostics (including Motion Amplification) on critical reciprocating and rotating equipment, including:
- Piping
- Pumps
- Compressors
- Turbines
- Motors
- Gearboxes
- Fans
- Interpret vibration and performance data and recommend corrective actions to improve equipment reliability.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards.
- Conduct field inspections, quality audits, and technical reviews of completed work.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, providing technical support and recommendations.
- Assist in preparing proposals, project estimates, and service reports.
- Coordinate equipment calibration, maintenance, and inventory management.
- Support emergency callouts and troubleshooting of critical equipment failures.
- Monitor project performance, labor utilization, and operational costs.
- Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with OSHA, customer, and company HSE requirements.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and implement best practices in vibration and performance analysis of reciprocating and rotating assets.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; Formal advanced diagnostics training preferred.
- Minimum 7-10 years of experience in reciprocating asset performance and vibration analysis, predictive maintenance, or reciprocating and rotating equipment reliability.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory or field management experience.
- Certification in vibration analysis (ISO Category II or III preferred).
- Certification in Motion Amplification (Level II preferred).
- Strong understanding of reciprocating and rotating equipment maintenance and failure analysis.
- Experience using vibration and performance analysis and condition monitoring software.
- Knowledge of alignment, balancing, laser alignment, and precision maintenance practices.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, PCIDs, and technical documentation.
- Valid driver's license with the ability to travel to customer sites as required.
- Possess or able to acquire a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Card).
