Field Service Engineers - Industrial Generators (Remote in Houston region)

The Field Service Engineer will provide onsite services such as commissioning, installation, repair/maintenance, and upgrading of large industrial generators and their associated equipment at customer sites throughout the US and abroad. We are looking for Electrical, Mechanical, and Winders Specialists to service BRUSH equipment.

As a Field Specialist, you will be responsible for:

  • Commissioning HV Generators, Motors, Synchronous condensers, Power management systems (PMS), Electrical protection systems, Excitation Controllers (AVRs), and Synchronising equipment.
  • Performing roles while applying company health and safety procedures applicable to the job site, including HV safety, lock out tag out, permit to work systems, and risk and method statements.
  • Interpreting machine performance data, instrumentation readings, test values, specifications, technical requirements, and technical drawings to understand job scope and assist in job functions.
  • Conducting core maintenance activities such as disassembly, cleaning, inspection, evaluation, and reassembly on heavy-duty industrial generators and equipment like rotor couplings, frame components, shaft-driven oil pumps, bearings, seals, hydrogen seal assemblies, and rotor removals.
  • Providing proper direction to support labor in conducting the same activities, including working with union and non-union trades as required.

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role, you will:

  • Have a technical degree from an accredited school and 3+ years of field service experience.
  • Demonstrate competencies with tooling such as hydraulic tensioners, hydraulic rams, basic hand tools, pneumatic impact drivers, multi-meters, megger, rigging, generator special tooling, calipers, and precision measurement equipment.
  • Be self-reliant, resourceful, and a problem solver with well-developed commercial awareness.
  • Experience representing the company at customer sites and operating remotely on your own initiative while observing the company's Code of Conduct.
  • Able to work following health and safety rules, including operation of safe systems of work for high and medium voltage electrical systems in heavy industrial environments.
  • Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally up to 75% or as business needs dictate, often on short notice.
