A global company that develops manufactures and provides an extensive array of clinical, analytical and measurement equipment systems to many countries around the world. The company’s clinical diagnostics division, which specializes in hematology, clinical chemistry and immunoassay diagnostic analyzers is currently seeking for a Field Service Engineer Representative for Detroit, MI and anywhere in Michigan, as well as surrounding Cities/ States including Chicago, IL area/ IL, Indianapolis, IN area/ IN, and Cincinnati, Columbus & Cleveland/Akron, OH areas/OH.

The Field Service Engineer Representative will provide on-site service and maintenance of medical instrumentation. He/She will require specialized training, travel, a current and valid passport and driver's license, and the ability to obtain personal liability insurance per required company limits. He/She will be responsible for the repair of laboratory instrumentation using controlled documentation, schematics and diagrams. This position requires the ability to follow oral instructions and communicate effectively on the telephone. He/She will interact with internal and external customers, peers, and the Company's Technical Service Group. He/She will work on problems of moderate to complicated scope where analysis of situation or data requires review of several unknown or identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within procedures and policies to determine best and appropriate action. Makes recommendations regarding equipment replacement, based on technical knowledge.

Key Duties, Activities and Responsibilities:
• Travel to and provide on-site technical assistance to customers experiencing a diagnostic or instrumentation issue as advised and scheduled by the Company’s Medical Technical Support Group.
• Responsible for diagnosing, repairing and validating resolution of each reported product malfunction or technical question received from customers in the designated territory. Each action may be considered unique and may require a resolution based upon what the assessment of the failure is determined to be. Utilization of technical knowledge obtained in past employment and obtained during initial company’s Medical product technical training in combination with discovery while on site will provide the foundation and direction of each resolution.
• Responsible for providing initial product user training for customers as determined by current policy and procedures.
• Records customer complaints or inquiries utilizing the company’s Medical work instructions and procedures.
• Responsible for performing scheduled maintenance and requested services on time. Responsible for completing and submitting to the company’s Medical all service-related documentation as per department Standard Operating Procedure (S.O.P.s).
• Reads and complies with company and departmental procedures that are directly related to this position. A copy of such procedures will be acknowledged by the employee during the required training. Complies with company policy regarding timely submission of all employee-related documentation, such as business expenses, service orders, installation documentation, supplemental reports as required, etc.
• Maintains all company issued equipment and inventory in a safe and prudent manner (including company vehicles, as appropriate). Comply with spare part inventory management policies and procedures. Ensures that methods of equipment handling and delivery (parts/equipment return) comply with established standards of safety and security.
• Assists with after-hours technical "hot line" support as needed. The position includes being reachable weekends and after-hours to support the company’s customers.
• Provides immediate notification to those who manage Service, Technical Support, and Compliance regarding issues of compliance, service, instrumentation, diagnostic, trending or customer dissatisfaction. Provides written report regarding such issues within 72 hours of occurrence as require for each occurrence.
• This job requires the employee to handle sensitive and confidential information and documents, which cannot be disclosed without prior consent of employee's supervisor.

Knowledge & Skills

Work Experience, Skills and Education Required:

• AA Degree or certification from a technical school, or Engineering Degree.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience working with clinical chemistry, hematology, and/or relevant diagnostics analyzer equipment or medical instrumentation.
• Requires training or proof of previous training regarding hematology, chemistry, safety, and contracts. Requires company-specific training regarding service repair orders, regulatory requirements, software applications, instrumentation, company policies and procedures and departmental procedures.

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to analyze and resolve problems involving several known and/or unknown variables in standardized and/or non-standardized situations, requiring the use of technical skills, specialized training, intuition, discretion and judgment. This job requires the employee to be cognizant of the potential emotional stress relating to schedules, travelling, and absence from home, finances, abstract problems and interaction with customers and with the employee's peers and associates of the Company. The employee is responsible for recognizing how their ability to use people skills and stress management skills may create or avoid potential safety hazards, and is responsible for using appropriate work practices in stress-related situations.
