Job summary

John Zink is hiring a Field Service Technician to support refining and petrochemical customers across the Charlotte, NC region. You’ll serve as a field expert—commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining industrial combustion, electrical, and control systems that are critical to plant safety and reliability.

Responsibilities include travel to customer sites for preventive maintenance, commissioning of PLC-based systems, and strong customer communication.

Qualifications

Hands-on experience diagnosing and troubleshooting PLC-based control systems (Allen-Bradley, GE).
Working knowledge of NFPA 70E electrical safety standards.
Ability to read P&IDs, electrical schematics, and fabrication drawings.
Willingness to travel 75%+ within the assigned region.
Valid driver’s license and TWIC eligibility or ability to obtain TWIC.

Responsibilities

Travel from home base to customer sites for preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning of industrial equipment.
Service electrical, mechanical, and control systems including PLCs, VFDs, motors, pumps, and emissions monitoring systems.
Commission and modify control systems, including PLC logic, HMIs, and PID loops.
Diagnose and resolve live electrical and instrumentation issues with safety in mind.
Maintain accurate technical documentation and drawings.
