Job summary

John Zink Company, a Koch Engineered Solutions brand, seeks a Field Service Technician to support refining and petrochemical customers across the Charlotte, NC region. You will be the on-site expert for commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining industrial combustion, electrical, and control systems to ensure safe and reliable plant operations.

Travel is heavy (75%+ regional; some national), and the role includes documenting work, building customer relations, and adhering to safety

Qualifications

• Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting PLC-based control systems.
• Knowledge of NFPA 70E electrical safety standards.
• Ability to read P&IDs, electrical schematics, and drawings.
• Willingness to travel 75% or more in the region.
• TWIC credential within six weeks of employment.
• Valid driver’s license for company vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and commissioning.
• Service electrical, mechanical, and control systems including PLCs, VFDs, motors, pumps, valves, actuators, and emissions systems.
• Commission, troubleshoot, and modify industrial control systems including PLC logic, PID loops, HMIs.
• Diagnose and resolve electrical, controls, and instrumentation issues in live environments.
• Participate in an on-call rotation to support urgent customer needs.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation including redlines on drawings and schematics.
• Perform work in confined spaces while following safety procedures.
• Build strong customer relationships through clear, professional communication.
