Job summary

Zygo, a leading innovator in optical metrology, seeks a Field Service Engineer to deliver top-tier service for Zygo metrology instruments at customer sites and build strong customer relationships.

The role involves installation, maintenance, training, and collaboration with support and R&D to ensure high reliability and performance. International travel >50% is required, with a passion for precision and safety guiding every engagement.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience in metrology or optics preferred.
  • Strong customer service orientation with sales aptitude.
  • Willingness to travel internationally, with travel exceeding 50%.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, evolving environment and stay calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues at customer sites, coordinating with support and R&D.
  • Perform preventive maintenance to keep Zygo equipment at peak performance.
  • Train and support internal teams, distributors, and customers on metrology instruments.
  • Plan and manage installations at customer sites, including setup and integration.
  • Analyze issues and identify hardware/software improvements to enhance product performance and reliability.
  • Develop application solutions and contribute to new technologies through on-site assistance.
