Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled UPS Field Engineer with in-depth knowledge of UPS start-up, testing, and operations. This role involves commissioning, maintenance, and emergency support for power electronics at customer sites, primarily in the Northeast/New England region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct commissioning-focused design reviews, prepare test procedures and reports, and oversee on-site testing.
- Perform preventive maintenance, emergency response, equipment start-up, and field modifications.
- Coordinate with technical support to resolve maintenance or operational issues.
- Assist in developing Methods of Procedures (MOPs).
- Report to a supervisor regarding any unusual issues or developments.
- Undergo periodic training at company headquarters on testing equipment and system rebuilding.
- Complete Field Service Reports promptly and provide proactive recommendations to clients.
- This position is based from home, with occasional travel for emergencies.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years' experience; 10+ years of relevant experience preferred.
- Skilled in troubleshooting equipment such as UPS, batteries, PDUs, STSs, etc.
- Proficient with hand tools and test equipment for maintenance and repairs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with excellent customer service abilities.
- Ability to work independently with resourcefulness and initiative.
- Knowledge of equipment manufacturers' specifications.
- Physically capable of bending and lifting up to 100 lbs as required.
- Willing to work nights, weekends, and be on-call as needed.
- Basic knowledge of computer hardware and software.
- Experience with third-party UPS service providers is a plus.
- OEM factory training or experience with brands such as Emerson/Liebert/Vertiv, APC/MGE/Schneider, or Eaton/Powerware/PDI is required.
- A technical degree (e.g., DeVry, Lincoln Tech) is a plus.
- Military veterans with experience in electrical/mechanical systems (e.g., Navy EMN, ETN, MMNs, Army Power, Air Force Power Production, Coast Guard) are highly valued.
- Must have a clean driving record.
- Occasional travel may be required for emergencies.
Location Preference:
Candidate should reside in the Northeast/New England area, ideally Massachusetts, Rhode Island, or New Hampshire.
