Job description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled UPS Field Engineer with in-depth knowledge of UPS start-up, testing, and operations. This role involves commissioning, maintenance, and emergency support for power electronics at customer sites, primarily in the Northeast/New England region.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct commissioning-focused design reviews, prepare test procedures and reports, and oversee on-site testing.
  2. Perform preventive maintenance, emergency response, equipment start-up, and field modifications.
  3. Coordinate with technical support to resolve maintenance or operational issues.
  4. Assist in developing Methods of Procedures (MOPs).
  5. Report to a supervisor regarding any unusual issues or developments.
  6. Undergo periodic training at company headquarters on testing equipment and system rebuilding.
  7. Complete Field Service Reports promptly and provide proactive recommendations to clients.
  8. This position is based from home, with occasional travel for emergencies.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience; 10+ years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting equipment such as UPS, batteries, PDUs, STSs, etc.
  • Proficient with hand tools and test equipment for maintenance and repairs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with excellent customer service abilities.
  • Ability to work independently with resourcefulness and initiative.
  • Knowledge of equipment manufacturers' specifications.
  • Physically capable of bending and lifting up to 100 lbs as required.
  • Willing to work nights, weekends, and be on-call as needed.
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware and software.
  • Experience with third-party UPS service providers is a plus.
  • OEM factory training or experience with brands such as Emerson/Liebert/Vertiv, APC/MGE/Schneider, or Eaton/Powerware/PDI is required.
  • A technical degree (e.g., DeVry, Lincoln Tech) is a plus.
  • Military veterans with experience in electrical/mechanical systems (e.g., Navy EMN, ETN, MMNs, Army Power, Air Force Power Production, Coast Guard) are highly valued.
  • Must have a clean driving record.
  • Occasional travel may be required for emergencies.

Location Preference:

Candidate should reside in the Northeast/New England area, ideally Massachusetts, Rhode Island, or New Hampshire.
