Qualifications

  • 5 years hands-on experience as a Service Engineer with analytical instrumentation.
  • Experience with Molecular instrumentation preferred.
  • Proficient with customer management software.

Location/Division

Join Unity Lab Services, a crucial part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, providing end-to-end solutions, instrument assistance, and enterprise services. The Engineer leads all aspects of field service support and customer relationship management, including installation, maintenance, and instrument qualification. The ideal candidate prioritizes customer needs, advocates for Thermo Fisher Scientific, and strives for growth.

Location: remote based in Minneapolis, MN

A day in the Life:

  • Perform on-site installation, repair, PM, and qualification ofMolecular Spectroscopyinstrumentation (FTIR,Raman,UV-Vis)
  • Must be client-focused, working in conjunction with Professional Services and outsourcing functions.
  • Must be proficient with the use of customer management software to track service calls, manage parts inventories, and complete job tasks.
  • Reviews reports and documentation from customers, and inspects malfunctioning product to determine nature and scope of problem.
  • Analyzes review and inspection findings to determine source of problem, and recommends repair, replacement, or other corrective action.
  • Coordinates problem resolution with engineering, customer service, and other personnel to expedite repairs.
  • Analyzes instrument generated chemistry and performance reports of technical issues to recommend factory modifications that eliminate future events of the same issue.
  • Provides a communication link between the customer and the company to help ensure that effective service is provided to the customer.
  • Develops and conducts training on the safe operations of the equipment and demonstrates skills to trainees, including both team members and customers (Chemists).
  • Show and demonstrate progression in training and certification for advanced products.

Keys to Success:

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Sciences or related field preferred, but equivalent experience will also be considered. High school diploma or 7+ years of equivalent experience required.

Minimum Experience

  • 5 years hands-on experience as a Service Engineer, particularly working with analytical instrumentation, is preferred
  • Hands-on experience with Molecular instrumentation preferred
  • Effective communication skills and establishing good customer rapport are essential
  • Ability to prioritize service requests and produce clear and concise documentation

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Must be available for daily travel and up to 50% overnight travel.
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to work overtime
  • Valid Driver’s License Required
  • Able to successfully pass federal background checks
  • Position may require Covid-19 vaccination and/or routine testing, per client discretion. As a requirement to be onsite at Thermo Fisher Scientific this position requires vaccination status disclosure upon employment.

Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in Minnesota is $37.00–$45.01.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
