Join Hitachi Energy as a Field Service Engineer and become a key player in our mission to power good for sustainable energy. Based in Las Vegas, NV, you'll lead technical field assignments, from installation to repair of high voltage equipment (69kV to 550kV). This is your chance to work with cutting-edge technology, travel extensively, and make a significant impact in the energy sector.

How You'll Make an Impact

  1. Perform field service operations that present usual or unusual problems requiring solid technical skills.
  2. Execute or supervise the installation and commissioning of high voltage substation equipment (69kV through 550kV).
  3. Supervise electricians and contractors, hired by Hitachi Energy or provided by the customer.
  4. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on High Voltage equipment.
  5. Troubleshoot and repair equipment, applying own knowledge and experience.
  6. Perform and document field tests such as electrical tests, SF6 leak detection, gas analysis, timing, power factor, contact resistance.
  7. Compile and evaluate data to determine and resolve operating problems or malfunctions.
  8. Conduct inspections to determine necessary maintenance and repairs and assist in resource planning.
  9. Develop recommendations and prepare written reports.
  10. Maintain detailed records and logs.
  11. Recommend changes such as new equipment or modified procedures to improve performance and customer satisfaction.
  12. Assist in planning and coordinating team efforts.
  13. Often work nonstandard schedules at field locations with exposure to varying environmental conditions.
  14. Follow safety policies and procedures.
  15. Travel estimated at 80%.
  16. Reside or be willing to relocate to Portland, Oregon.

Your Background

  • Technical certificate in electrical or mechanical field and 5+ years of experience with High Voltage Substations and equipment (>69kV) at field assignments supervising erection and testing. Military experience with similar equipment may be considered.
  • Must have work authorization to work in the US for Hitachi Energy.
  • Preferably a Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering.
  • Proven leadership experience in coordinating and leading electrical project crews.
  • Experience working with Power Utilities.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Knowledge of test equipment such as CB timers, power factor, TTR, Ductor, CT testers, Megger.
  • Familiarity with Windows applications.
  • Reside or willing to relocate to Las Vegas, NV.
  • Willing to travel 80%.
