Job Title: Field Service Engineer (Remote - Western Region)
Salary Range: $95,000 - $120,000 annually + Bonus
Location: Remote (U.S.-based, Pacific Time Zone preferred based on location of territory)
Travel: Up to 75% (primarily within California)
About The Role
We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused Field Service Engineer to join our remote team, supporting clients primarily in California. In this role, you will deliver on-site and remote service for hydraulic and electrical systems, including system start-ups, diagnostics, repairs, and upgrades. You'll work with both legacy and new equipment, as well as select non-proprietary systems, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role ideal for someone who thrives in dynamic environments, enjoys solving complex technical problems, and values building strong customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Travel to customers by vehicle to provide on-site and remote service for hydraulic and electrical systems, including diagnostics, repairs, and start-ups.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues using computer-based diagnostic tools and hydraulic schematics.
- Perform system performance calculations (e.g., flow rates, pipe sizing) to support repairs and upgrades.
- Promote and implement system upgrades and enhancements.
- Collaborate with internal engineering and support teams to deliver timely, effective solutions.
- Educate customers on proper system use and maintenance; lead training sessions as needed.
- Document service activities and maintain accurate records and reports.
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Associate's degree in a related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical/electrical service, with a focus on hydraulically operated machinery.
- Strong understanding of hydraulic systems, including servo-controlled and fixed displacement pumps, proportional and solenoid valves.
- Ability to read and interpret hydraulic schematics and basic electrical drawings.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and diagnostic software tools.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 75%, primarily within California.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fluid power certification or relevant coursework.
- Experience with forging, extrusion, or forming press systems.
- Familiarity with Rockwell software (RSLogix, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk) and PLCs (SLC500, PLC5).
- Experience upgrading legacy control systems.
- Sales or customer-facing experience in industrial or fluid power applications.
