Job summary

UVeye is seeking a Field Service Engineer to install, deploy, and service our automated vehicle inspection systems across the US and Canada. You will lead on-site installations, guide contractors, troubleshoot issues, and ensure safety and quality standards are met.

As the primary technical contact, you will review site layouts, calibrate systems, and document activities. This role requires up to 100% travel and a proactive, customer-focused approach to field service.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in Field Engineer/Field Service/Field Technician roles including hardware/software installation and deployment.
• Experience leading contractors or teams during technical installations.
• Hands-on experience with civil works, networking, electrical wiring, and mechanical assemblies.
• Working knowledge of Linux-based systems and basic networking principles.
• Experience reading and interpreting site layouts and technical drawings using AutoCAD, Autodesk, or similar tools.
• Ability to create clear installation, service, and maintenance documentation.
• Strong communication skills to lead on-site discussions and provide technical direction.
• Customer-first mindset with problem-solving and adaptability in changing field conditions.
• Safety-focused with ability to enforce on-site safety requirements.
• Willingness to travel up to 100% across US & Canada.
• Valid driver’s license.

The Field Service Engineer (FSE) leads the installation, deployment, and ongoing service of UVeye’s automated vehicle inspection systems at customer sites across the United States and Canada (US FSEs), and the EU and UK (UK FSEs). As the primary on-site technical authority, the FSE executes installations, guides third-party contractors, troubleshoots technical issues, and ensures deployments meet engineering, safety, and quality standards.

This is a travel-intensive role (up to 100%) requiring frequent travel between customer locations, including dealerships, manufacturing plants, logistics hubs, and other operational environments.

A day in the life and how you’ll make an impact:

• Lead Field Installations: Own and execute on-site system installations, providing direction to contractors and ensuring projects meet engineering specifications, timelines, safety requirements, and quality standards.
• Deploy and Validate Systems: Install, configure, calibrate, and validate UVeye inspection systems across electrical, mechanical, networking, and civil components, ensuring systems are fully operational before customer handoff.
• Troubleshoot Technical Issues: Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, networking, and integration issues in the field, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions.
• Deliver Maintenance and Service: Perform preventive maintenance and emergency service activities, proactively addressing issues to maximize system uptime and operational continuity.
• Ensure Safe Execution: Maintain compliance with safety standards and operational protocols, identify potential hazards, and enforce safe working practices for employees and contractors on-site.
• Assess Sites and Execute Technical Plans: Review site layouts, engineering drawings, and technical documentation using AutoCAD or similar tools. Identify and upscale discrepancies between planned and actual site conditions.
• Own the On-Site Customer Experience: Serve as the primary technical point of contact during field activities, communicating clearly, managing expectations, and delivering a professional customer experience.
• Collaborate and Document: Maintain accurate installation and service documentation, elevate complex technical issues to Engineering, R&D, and Operations, and provide field insights that support continuous improvement.
• Time and Expense Management: You are responsible for managing your time and expenses on a regular basis and in accordance with company guidelines.

Requirements:

• 4+ years of experience as a Field Engineer, Field Service Engineer, or Field Technician supporting hardware/software installation and deployment
• Experience leading contractors or teams during technical installations
• Strong hands-on experience with civil works, networking, electrical wiring, and mechanical assemblies
• Working knowledge of Linux-based systems and basic networking principles
• Experience reading and interpreting site layouts and technical drawings using AutoCAD, Autodesk, or similar tools
• Ability to create clear installation, service, and maintenance documentation
• Strong communication skills with the ability to confidently lead on-site discussions and provide technical direction
• Customer-first mindset with strong problem-solving skills, resilience, and adaptability in changing field conditions
• Strong commitment to safety and the ability to enforce safety requirements on-site
• Willingness and ability to travel up to 100% across the United States and Canada (US FSEs)
• Valid driver’s license

Ideally, we’re looking for:

• Technical certification or trade school training
• Basic familiarity with Linux systems
• Experience working in customer-facing environments

Physical Requirements And Work Environment

This role is field-based and requires 100% travel across customer locations within the United States. Responsibilities may include: Extended periods of standing, walking, and working on active job sites. Working in and around vehicle service areas, dealerships, manufacturing facilities, warehouses, and outdoor environments. Performing physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling equipment up to 50 lbs. Frequent bending, reaching, climbing, and manual handling of tools or components. Working in varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, noise, and dust. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety shoes, helmets, gloves, and eye protection, as required, The role requires a high level of mobility, physical stamina, and the ability to safely perform hands‑on technical work in diverse operational environments.

Compensation:

UVeye provides salary ranges that comply with the New Jersey State Law on salary transparency in job advertisements. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, qualifications, skills, location, education, and operational needs. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentives or other forms of compensation or benefits. The annual base salary range for this position is $32/hr – $38/hr.
