The Chemical Analysis Division (CAD) provides a broad mix of analytical instruments and services to end-user markets including Safety & Security, Environmental, Food Safety, Life Sciences, Medical, Energy, Spectroscopy, and Minerals and Mining. Its instruments are used worldwide in various settings, both in the field and on the line, where customers value adaptability, reliability, and ease of use. CAD operates within a global footprint with more than 4,000 colleagues, delivering product solutions to customers that allow for confident, on-the-spot decision-making. CAD is part of the Analytical Instruments group and comprises three business units:

The position supports the Bulk Elemental Analysis business unit, which enables customers to accelerate production, improve product quality, make faster process decisions, and protect their brands. Bulk Elemental Analysis (BEA): For over 85 years, our Ecublens site in Switzerland has been a global supplier of spectrochemical instruments for industries like metallurgy, transportation, cement, mining, food, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, petroleum, and batteries. We offer optical emission spectroscopy (OES), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and spectrometer automation (SMS).

Territory: Up to 75% travel within Franklin, MA, and surrounding regions, nationwide.

What will you do? You will provide comprehensive services on Spectroscopy instruments: OES, XRF, and XRD including installation, repairs, preventative maintenance, and qualifications. You will also engage with customers, sales, technical support, and engineering teams.

  • Perform on-site installation, repair, maintenance, qualification, and validation of spectroscopy systems.
  • Use customer management software to resolve service calls, manage parts inventories, and document activities.
  • Inspect malfunctioning products, analyze issues, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Communicate effectively with customers to ensure quality service.
  • Develop and conduct safety training and demonstrate skills to trainees and customers.

Minimum Education & Experience

  • High school diploma with 5+ years experience as a Service Engineer working with analytical instrumentation, or a Bachelor’s degree in Sciences, Engineering, or related field with 5 years’ experience.

Proficiencies

  • Customer-oriented mindset.
  • Technical knowledge of scientific or related equipment.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to build rapport.
  • Ability to prioritize requests and produce clear documentation.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Travel & Physical/Environmental requirements:

  • Up to 70% travel within the territory or as needed.
  • Physical activities include stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs. with assistance, 25-30 lbs. continuously), and other movements.
  • Environmental conditions include office settings, travel, noise, hazards, and customer site environments.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
