Day in the Life / Role Summary

The Field Service Engineer (FSE) is the primary technical representative for Medtronic Cardiovascular (CV) customers and the sales and clinical teams. The FSE is responsible for the technical assessment, installation, support, servicing, maintenance, and de-installation of all CV systems at customer sites. The FSE works with Field Service and Technical Service teams to coordinate feedback with Marketing, Quality, Production and Engineering to continually evaluate product performance in the field. This position may provide technical assistance to physicians or technologists during clinical procedures. This role is remote to enhance our competitive edge and expand cross-functional collaboration, and may require up to 75% travel to support projects and collaboration.

Additional Information
  • Location: Individuals must reside within 60 minutes of Nashville International Airport (BNA) to support this territory.
  • Territory: This position will support a territory that includes TN and KY.
  • Travel: This position will require over 75% travel including overnight travel.
  • Equipment: This position will work on Cardiac Ablation Solutions CryoConsole and Cardiac Surgery Autolog platform, Hemostasis Management System, Automated Coagulation Timer, Bio-console 560 Controller and systems introduced in the future.
Responsibilities
  • Perform installations, inspections, verification, corrective and preventive maintenance of CV consoles and systems.
  • Maintain and submit technical records and documentation as per regulatory requirements.
  • Provide information from field experience to colleagues in the office and update databases.
  • Provide input to service processes to ensure continuous improvement and evolution of the Field Service organization, including development and maintenance of service documentation and procedures.
  • Provide input to Engineering and Manufacturing for upgrades to CV products.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of technical training to distributors, partners, agents, and technically qualified customer representatives.
  • Support the introduction of new products to customers by participating in design improvement discussions.
  • Investigate, analyze, and recognize trends in technical data related to CV products.
  • Participate in special projects as requested by the US Field Service Manager or designee.
  • Participate in and provide technical training to physicians, EP technicians and department managers at customer sites.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and active vehicle insurance. Driving record will be reviewed and considered. Ability to drive approximately 75% of the time within the assigned territory with overnight travel.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 4 years of technical, clinical field service, or clinical customer support experience. A Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline can be used in lieu of 4 years’ experience.
Nice to Have
  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • Ability to apply engineering principles (electrical, mechanical, thermodynamics, biomedical) to troubleshooting without complete technical documentation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose medical equipment. Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in teaching technical subject matter.
  • Excellent time management and detail-oriented skills.
  • Flexibility to travel frequently.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision.
  • Extensive direct, face-to-face customer contact and interaction.
  • Ability to work closely with customers, listen to their issues, and develop plans to increase confidence and satisfaction with AF/CS Solutions products and services.

Salary ranges for U.S. locations (USD): 60,000.00 - 90,000.00.
