Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or higher in a technical field is highly preferred.
  • 3+ years of field service or laboratory equipment experience required.
  • Experience with DMM, refrigeration, and customer-facing roles is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, install, and maintain laboratory equipment including incubators and centrifuges.
  • Provide onsite training to Biomedical Engineering Technicians.
  • Document service actions through the work order database.

Location/Division Specific Information

Position based REMOTELY in Cambridge, MA area and will support the New England area. Supporting the Instruments and Enterprise Services (IES) Division at Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Discover Impactful Work:

Position will make an impact by repairing, installing, and maintaining a variety of laboratory equipment products, including incubators, centrifuges, cold storage (refrigerators and freezers), and other equipment as needed. Schedule and complete detailed preventative maintenance and corrective service to ensure peak uptime of customer equipment.

A Day in the Life:
  • Provide onsite service training to Biomedical Engineering Technicians (BMET) or advanced operators.

  • Submit expenses and manage trunk stock inventory in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Document daily service actions through the company work order database.

  • Maintain courteous and knowledgeable communication with customers to ensure alignment of all aspects of the service events (status, cost, scheduling, etc.).

Keys to Success:
Education
  • Associate degree in Electronics or Engineering highly preferred.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering or Electronics preferred.

  • EPA Certification preferred.

  • Accredited trade school certification in HVAC/R or Electronic Technician preferred.

Experience
  • At least 3 years of experience in field service, Depot repair, manufacturing facilities, or equivalent required, servicing medical devices or laboratory equipment, etc.

  • Experience in customer-facing positions preferred.

  • Strong electronic/electrical and mechanical background preferred; refrigeration experience a plus

  • Experience working with basic test equipment such as DMM, tachometer, and temperature devices, including hands-on refrigeration experience is preferred.

  • Strong Customer Focus – builds positive relationships and delivers customer-centric service.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs with assistance, and carry 25-30 lbs continuously throughout the day.

  • Ability to drive frequently within the territory and travel overnight if required

  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
