Job summary

Sunbelt Solomon’s Power Solutions Group seeks a Field Service Engineer to perform on-site maintenance, testing, and commissioning of electrical power distribution equipment in the Northeast. You will read schematics, diagnose issues, and coordinate field service projects with customers and internal teams.

The role requires strong electrical/mechanical aptitude, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to safety and customer service.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in electrical engineering, electrical engineering technology, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
• Ability to read, interpret, and analyze electrical drawings and schematics.
• Knowledge of electrical power distribution systems, short‑circuit analysis, coordination studies, and arc‑flash hazards/NFPA 70E is preferred.
• Experience testing electromechanical and/or digital protective relays is highly desirable.
• AutoCAD experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of electrical power distribution equipment.
• Conduct protective relay testing independently and as part of a team.
• Manage engineering and field service projects ranging from smaller assignments to large‑scale customer initiatives.
• Apply engineering principles, applicable codes, and industry standards to support safe, reliable, and cost-effective electrical systems.
• Provide technical support, quality control, project documentation, and reporting.
• Read, interpret, and analyze power system wiring diagrams, including DC elementary drawings.
• Apply a strong theoretical understanding of electricity to diagnose issues and develop practical solutions.
• Coordinate work at customer sites and resolve technical or operational issues as they arise.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with customers, coworkers, and leadership.
• Maintain a strong focus on customer service, follow‑up, organization, and time management.
• Follow all electrical safety procedures and actively promote a safe work environment.
