Opportunity

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join our team within this booming industry.

Basic Function: Plan, execute, and lead technical field assignments involving installation, modification, testing, commissioning, or repair of High Voltage equipment (69kV - 550kV). Opportunities available in Westford (Boston), MA & John's Creek (ATL), GA offices.

How You'll Make An Impact

• Perform field service operations requiring solid technical skills.
• Install and commission high voltage substation equipment (69kV - 550kV).
• Supervise electricians and contractors.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on High Voltage equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment, applying your knowledge and experience.
• Conduct field tests such as electrical tests, SF6 leak detection, gas analysis, timing, power factor, contact resistance.
• Evaluate data to resolve operating problems.
• Inspect and determine maintenance needs, assisting in resource planning.
• Develop reports and maintain detailed records.
• Recommend improvements to enhance performance and customer satisfaction.
• Assist in team planning and coordination.
• Work nonstandard schedules with exposure to environmental conditions.
• Follow safety policies and procedures.
• Travel estimated at 80%.
• Reside or be willing to relocate to Portland, Oregon.
• Uphold Hitachi Energy’s values of safety and integrity.

Your Background

• Technical certificate in electrical or mechanical field, with 5+ years of experience in High Voltage Substations (>69kV) including supervision.
• Work authorization to work in the U.S.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering preferred.
• Leadership experience in electrical project teams.
• Experience working with Power Utilities.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics.
• Knowledge of test equipment such as CB timers, power factor, TTR, Ductor, CT testers, Megger.
• Familiarity with Windows applications.
