Primary Function of Position

As a Field Service Engineer 2 at Intuitive, you will be an integral part of our dedicated team, responsible for the installation, support, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of all our products within your designated area. Your primary focus will be to ensure that all service agreements and warranty obligations are met and surpassed, while consistently exceeding customer expectations. This role requires expertise in electro-mechanical systems, acquired through specialized training, as well as exceptional customer service and communication skills. You will work closely with customers to provide technical expertise, resolve issues, and deliver outstanding support as we continue to revolutionize the industry.



Essential Job Duties


  • Understand and comply with all department and company policies

  • Provide management with a quarterly review and assessment of your assigned area of responsibility

  • Document service activities accurately, maintain records, and provide comprehensive reports to stakeholders

  • Complete all administrative tasks within the required time frame

  • Provide technical support to end-users and other Intuitive employees

  • Conduct training sessions at Intuitive facilities, training centers, and hospitals

  • Perform scheduled maintenance activities such as system inspections, preventive maintenance, software updates, system recalls, field actions, and upgrades

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair Intuitive products and related equipment per procedures and timeframes

  • Coordinate and perform system and hardware delivery and installation

  • Demonstrate knowledge and implementation of OR protocols and HIPAA standards

  • Complete administrative duties (e.g., spare parts inventory, field activity reports, RMA, expense reports) within stated timeframes

  • Maintain all Intuitive-provided items (tools, tool sets, vehicles, laptops, iPads, etc.)

  • Support and collaborate with Intuitive teams to facilitate company goals (e.g., assist Sales with trade shows, assist Genesis with sterile reprocessing training, provide hospital contacts to other teams)

  • Provide feedback to HQ and participate in continuous improvement projects to improve processes and identify efficiencies

  • Complete required training, including equipment training for all Intuitive products and Intuitive Surgical University classes

  • Manage all aspects of your assigned area, including responding to customer needs, maintaining install base configurations, customer contacts, and providing support for customer training and events



Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience



  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team with colleagues, customers, and stakeholders

  • Strong problem-solving skills to identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues

  • Good time management with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and handle multiple tasks with attention to detail

  • Ability to travel up to 70% and within the travel and expense policy

  • Willingness to perform ad hoc tasks as assigned by management

  • Residence within a reasonable distance (typically within 30 miles) of the assigned territory or designated area

  • Flex shift availability (second shift or other) as required by management

  • Demonstrate the characteristics expected of Intuitive personnel (e.g., integrity, energy, experience)



Working Conditions


  • Ability to lift 75 lbs. and move wheeled objects up to 1,200 lbs.

  • Clean driving record

  • Ability to obtain and maintain Vendor Credentialing for operating room access

  • Compliance with vaccination requirements as mandated by vendor credentialing



Skills and Experience


  • 1-3 years of Field Service experience

  • Associate\'s degree in related field or equivalent training/experience

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot electro-mechanical systems

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • General computer skills

  • Comfortable working off hours with limited support

  • Excellent administrative and record-keeping skills

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, including base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity. Base compensation ranges vary by region and shift. The target base compensation ranges are listed but may be adjusted based on experience, skills, and qualifications.


Base Compensation Range Region 1: $40 USD - $54 USD


Base Compensation Range Region 2: $36 USD - $49 USD
