Job description

Seeking a hands-on Field Service Engineer with strong mechanical and electrical aptitude. The ideal candidate will have solid experience in troubleshooting, equipment maintenance, PLC programming, and supporting automation and production environments. This role requires extensive travel—up to 95%—with the ability to be on assignment for several weeks at a time.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and warranty service on complex equipment and systems
  • Program and diagnose PLCs (STL, Ladder, SCL) and support HMI/automation projects from implementation through validation
  • Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and mechanical diagrams to support equipment installation and maintenance
  • Work with robotics and vision systems to ensure proper integration and functionality
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on CNC machines and industrial systems, including electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical components
  • Analyze equipment metrics to identify root causes and continuous improvement opportunities
  • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, vendors, and management to ensure equipment runs safely and efficiently

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering; advanced education a plus
  • Proven experience in field service, industrial maintenance, and controls
  • Proficient with PLC programming and troubleshooting, robotics, vision systems, and electrical systems
  • Strong mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical knowledge
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Forklift certified; experienced with large machinery and tools
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Must be able to travel 95% of the time and be away for extended assignments
