Job description

Field Service Engineer

Pay Rate: $45.00/HR W2

Hours: Full-time, normal business hours

Location: Herndon, VA

Duration: Contract, 2-3 months with possible extension

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Field Service Engineer is responsible for providing service and support at customer sites throughout their assigned territory.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide installation supervision, testing, commissioning, maintenance, and repair work for low voltage distribution gear, transformers, and related power distribution equipment professionally.
2. Prepare technical reports/test sheets, monitor spare parts, tools/equipment, consumables, etc.
3. Maintain and follow safety regulations for the company and specific sites.
4. Attend all relevant site meetings.
5. Coordinate with Project Management and Site personnel.
6. Deliver excellent customer service, addressing client needs and escalating issues when necessary.
7. Communicate regularly with Project Managers, relaying information effectively.
8. Proactively work to eliminate waste and add value to processes.
9. Adhere to health and safety regulations and safe work practices.
10. Follow company policies and rules.
11. Perform additional duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Associate's degree in electrical power distribution or related field, or 5+ years of relevant experience. Military experience is a plus. Data Center or mission-critical system experience is preferred.
• Experience with electrical power distribution systems, power monitoring, AC/DC electrical systems, and communication protocols.
• 3-5 years' experience in designing low voltage switchgear and power distribution equipment.
• Knowledge of UL Standards such as UL67, UL1008, UL1008S, UL60950, UL891, UL1558, and relevant standards.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and use test equipment like multimeters and current meters.
• Proven problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
• Strong focus on Safety, Quality, and Productivity improvements.
• Effective communication skills in English, with the ability to follow instructions and perform mathematical tasks.
• Valid driver's license and ability to be insured.
• Willingness to travel 80-90%.
• Availability for on-call work, weekends, overtime, and respond to emergency calls within 2 hours.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Constant exposure to indoor manufacturing or construction environments, occasional exposure to noise. Frequent standing, walking, grasping, reaching, and lifting up to 25 lbs. Must have good vision and wear safety equipment as required.
