Job summary

The Planet Group is seeking an AField Service Software/Hardware/Controls Engineer to support machine builds and deployments in machining environments. You will participate in design, startup, commissioning, and field service on customer sites, reading electrical prints and modifying systems as needed.

You’ll work closely with project management, manage customer communications, and travel up to 50% domestically and internationally to ensure successful installations and service delivery.

Qualifications

• Associates or Bachelor's in electrical engineering or related area such as computer science.
• Ability to read electrical/mechanical blueprints.
• HMI programming and industrial I/O/network knowledge.
• Proficiency with PLCs and various engineering software tools.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Participate in project design decisions with mechanical engineers and management.
• Read electrical prints to modify and implement changes.
• Develop PLC programs; experience with ladder, STL, SCL, G-code helpful.

AField Service Software/Hardware/Controls Engineer

responsible for supporting machine builds and customer deployments in a machining environment. This role is responsible for design participation, setup, startup, commissioning, debugging, and run-off of machines with minimal supervision, and will interface directly with customers on the shop floor and at customer sites. Partner closely with Project Management to execute project timelines and maintain strong customer communication throughout the project lifecycle.

Required:

• Associates or bachelor's in electrical engineering or other relevant areas such as computer science, or 5+ years in related experience.
• Ability to read and understand mechanical, electrical blueprints.
• Knowledgeable of HMI programming, industrial I/O devices (and networks, servo motors & controllers.
• Mechanical, electrical and troubleshooting skills.
  Technical knowledge (EPLAN and AutoCAD).
• Customer/client focus andCost/Time awareness.
  Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to remain flexible enough to accommodate any changes in scope and direction.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to leverage previous experience.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to organize projects using a check sheet to track progress.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Be part of project design decisions with mechanical engineers and management.
• Able to read electrical prints to modify and implement changes.
• Developing PLC programs from scratch is a plus.
• Experience with one or more of the following programming languages (Ladder, STL, SCL, G-code, Visual Basic, C/C++).
• Experience with one or more of the following Software, Siemens Step 7, Starter, WinCC Flexible 2008, TIA Portal, Sinumerik 840D, Allen Bradley Studio 5000, Factory Talk Studio, Botch/Rexroth IndraWorks.
• Understanding of industrial network communications - Ethernet IP, Profinet, Profibus, Canbus, Arcnet, RS232, RS485.
• Repair and troubleshoot various machines in the field.
• Perform all activities associated with machine installations and customer service calls. This includes close interaction with the aftermarket team and customers in a positive and focused manner to realize productive results.
• Clear inter-departmental communication necessary. The individual must also provide accurate and high-quality work with minimal supervision.
• Must be willing to work extended hours when required.
• Assist Project Management to maintain customer contact through meetings and presentations.
• Understand mechanical print layouts.
• Must be willing and able to travel (50%) domestically and internationally as needed.

Pay: $38/hr. - $42/hr.
