The Halter Group is seeking a Field Service Technician – Mobile Diesel Mechanic to keep our fleet on the move. This field role travels between job sites across Georgia and Tennessee, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing heavy equipment such as bucket trucks, aerial lifts, and trailers.
You will diagnose under pressure, perform preventive maintenance, document work, and coordinate with crews. Bilingual English/Spanish is a big asset; occasional hotel stays and overtime are part of the job.
Keep the fleet rolling
When a bucket truck goes down on a utility right-of-way, a crew is standing still and a deadline is ticking. That's when you show up. If you'd rather be out on the road solving real problems than stuck in the same bay every day, we want you on our Fleet Services team.
We're looking for a self-motivated, hardworking diesel technician who can diagnose under pressure, fix it right the first time, and keep crews safe. You'll travel between job sites across Georgia and Tennessee area, working on Altec, Terex, Freightliner, Cummins, and Allison equipment in the field, in all kinds of weather.
¿Hablas español? ¡Te invitamos a aplicar! Bilingual (English/Spanish) technicians are a big asset on our crews.

The Field Service Technician inspects, maintains, and repairs the trucks, trailers, aerial lifts, forklifts, pickups, and tree service equipment that keep our vegetation management crews working. This is a mobile role: you bring the shop to the equipment, handle preventive maintenance on schedule, and respond fast when something breaks down. You report directly to the Fleet Services Manager.
No CDL yet? We'll help you earn your CDL B through our company-provided program. You commit to hitting your permit and training goals, and we invest in getting you licensed within 90 days.
No two days are the same. You might start with scheduled preventive maintenance at a yard, then get a call that a bucket truck has a hydraulic leak on a right-of-way an hour away. Much of your day is spent driving between sites, and the rest is hands-on work outdoors in a non-climate-controlled setting.
Shifts run a standard 8- or 10-hour day, with overtime, emergency call-outs, and storm response as needed. When travel takes you far from home, you'll stay overnight on per diem or in a company-provided hotel.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
