Position Overview
We are currently seeking a Field Service Apprentice Mechanic to join our fast-growing KATS Team. The ideal candidate will bring a solutions-first mindset, strong technical skills, and a passion for professional development. This role requires a high level of customer service, technical ability, and the drive to ensure work is completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. This individual should be able to maintain confidentiality and have a decent level of mechanical aptitude and a desire to learn new skills. This candidate must be safety orientated, analytical, perceptive, with a critical thinking mindset. The individual should have effective communication skills and be self-motivated.
Job Responsibilities
- Support cleaning, blasting, painting, oil flushing, and additional industrial services
- Support shop services in Wellsville, NY. Blasting, cleaning,painting, disassembly, repair and assembly of rotating equipment
- Assist in setting up new equipment and ensuring it operates correctly
- Assist in performing proactive service checks, preventative maintenance and complete unit overhauls to keep equipment in optimal working condition
- Identifying problems and implementing solutions to restore equipment functionality and reduce downtime
- Provide support to customers with various service needs. Involve additional support from the team as necessary
- Frequently going to various customer sites to provide on-site service

ORGANIZATIONAL ALIGNMENT
This position reports to the Field Service Superintendent and works closely with the install team, operations leadership, and customers.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Valid Driver License with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to work flexible hours and respond to after-hours service needs
- Proficient in using service software, timekeeping apps, and digital job documentation
- Travel 70%
BEHAVIORAL PROFILE
Language Skills
Able to clearly communicate instructions and interact professionally with customers. Capable of writing detailed service reports and communicating updates across departments
Reasoning Ability
Capable of making confident, quick decisions under pressure. Skilled in prioritizing multiple demands and solving complex service issues in the field.
Physical Demands
This role is physically active and regularly involves walking job sites, climbing, kneeling, and lifting equipment or tools up to 75 pounds. Clear vision and manual dexterity are essential to performing hands-on tasks safely.
