Job Description

General Responsibilities:

Conduct environmental site investigations, assessments, and surveys to sample, measure, and analyze air, water, material, and soil. Identify, evaluate, and recommend risk and remediation strategies/designs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Prepare applicable permit applications, risk assessments, and technical documents including proposals, reports, and regulatory agency correspondence. Design systems and environmental protection plans. Projects may include Phase I/II environmental site assessments, ecological and natural resource field surveys, tank closure assessments, asbestos abatement, stormwater management, and site planning and permitting.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Follow safety rules, guidelines, and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  2. Understand and practice quality standards.
  3. Support consistent quality standards on proposal and project delivery.
  4. Develop as a scientific professional responsible for conducting analyses of project components; assignments are designed to develop knowledge and abilities.
  5. Perform site visits, field observations, and data collection.
  6. Assist in data collection and analysis from sampling, reports, maps, drawings, tests, and aerial photographs to evaluate, plan, and permit projects.
  7. Conduct water, soil, and other sampling.
  8. Implement technical requirements to complete client projects by directing field staff in sampling, testing, and documenting site activities.
  9. Outline investigative programs by selecting appropriate techniques for site studies.
  10. Draft written proposals for small projects and assist with larger project proposals.
  11. May have limited client contact related to specific projects/tasks.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field, or at least 1 year of related experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.

Preferred Certification:

  • Certification in the field of expertise is preferred.
