Job summary

Automated Logic, a Carrier company, seeks a field sales professional to grow our on-site footprint in Madison, WI. You will visit job sites, build long-term partnerships with contractors and engineers, and manage the full sales cycle to close projects.

You will conduct on-site walkthroughs, draft specifications with engineers, and use CRM tools to plan visits and track opportunities. Travel within the territory is required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED or completion of an accredited trade/technical school program.
  • 2+ years of experience in Construction, Industrial, Manufacturing or Technology.
  • Ability to travel locally within the assigned territory.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Construction Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated sales or hands-on field experience within Building Automation Systems (BAS) or HVAC controls.
  • Deep, existing relationships with local mechanical contractors, consulting engineers, and facility managers.
  • Fluency in CRM platforms and Microsoft 365 applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Exceptional communication, persuasive negotiation, cross-functional collaboration, and disciplined time-management abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Actively visit job sites, customer facilities, and engineering offices to manage and grow assigned territory accounts, positioning ALC as the preferred controls provider.
  • Develop long-term partnerships with mechanical contractors, consulting engineers, and facility owners.
  • Perform on-site job walkthroughs, take-offs, and site-specific needs assessments.
  • Perform take-offs and bid projects using the full spectrum of ALC offerings.
  • Partner with consulting engineers to draft project specifications and propose value-engineered control solutions.
  • Maintain a high level of field activity to generate sales opportunities.
  • Manage the full sales cycle, negotiating scope, pricing, and terms directly with contractors to close deals.
  • Deliver compelling on-site presentations to building owners and project managers.
  • Act as the customer’s advocate to internal operations teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Utilize CRM and sales tracking tools to plan field visits, document project milestones, and manage opportunity pipelines.

Role Purpose

Drive field sales growth across an assigned local territory by building on-site relationships, conducting facility walkthroughs, and partnering with contractors and building owners to achieve annual sales and gross margin targets.

Candidates must reside within a 35 mile radius of Madison, WI to accommodate regular local client visits.

Key Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED or completion of an accredited trade/technical school program.
  • 2+ years of experience in a Construction, Industrial, Manufacturing or Technology industry.
  • Ability to travel locally across the assigned territory.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Construction Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated sales or hands-on field experience within Building Automation Systems (BAS), commercial HVAC controls, or commercial mechanical/electrical trades.
  • Deep, existing relationships with local mechanical contractors, consulting engineers, and facility managers.
  • Hands-on capability to conduct technical site walkthroughs, audit legacy BAS infrastructure, and design cost-effective retrofit solutions.
  • Fluency in CRM platforms and Microsoft 365 applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Exceptional communication, persuasive negotiation, cross-functional collaboration, and disciplined time-management abilities.

Pay Range

The annual salary for this position is between $79,000.00 - $158,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate. The pay range will not be below the minimum wage applicable to the jurisdiction in which the applicant is to be employed.

Other Compensation

This position may be entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
