Job summary

The ComTran Group in Georgia seeks a Safety Technician to assist the Director of Safety in promoting a proactive safety culture across underground utility construction. You will visit active job sites, coach crews, conduct inspections and investigations, and help ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA and customer safety requirements.

This field-focused role requires a High School Diploma or GED, 2 years in construction or safety, a valid driver's license, and willingness to travel to project

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years in construction/utility or safety background.
• Valid drivers license with clean driving record.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and work in field conditions.

Responsibilities

• Support the Director of Safety with the safety management system.
• Conduct scheduled and unscheduled jobsite safety inspections.
• Observe work activities and identify hazard elimination opportunities.
• Coach and mentor supervisors and field employees on safe practices.
• Assist with incident investigations and near-miss reviews.
• Collect evidence and documentation for investigations.
• Monitor compliance with OSHA/DOT/EPA and customer safety requirements.
• Perform equipment and tool inspections.
• Review Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs).
• Deliver safety training and toolbox talks for crews.
• Maintain safety records and corrective action tracking.
• Promote Stop Work Authority and hazard reporting.
• Assist with emergency response planning and follow-up.
• Travel to project locations as needed.
