Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related technical field preferred.
  • 3-4 years of industrial safety experience in chemical plants, oil refineries, petrochemical processing, or heavy construction environments.
  • TWIC Card required for Beaumont/Golden Triangle industrial access; OSHA 30-Hour or COSS; First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA 1910 and 1926 standards; gas detection and environmental monitoring device proficiency; familiarity with ISTC/DISA guidelines; excellent communication with plant managers, engineers, and field labor.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily job-site safety audits and inspections.
  • Identify hazards and mitigate unsafe conditions; issue Stop Work Authority when necessary.
  • Review and verify work permits (Hot Work, Confined Space, Line Breaking, LOTO).
  • Assist in investigating near-misses, incidents, and injuries; document findings and corrective actions.
  • Lead daily safety tailgate/toolbox talks; assist with site-specific HSE orientations.
  • Inspect and calibrate safety equipment including gas detectors, respirators, fall protection and PPE.

Job description

Burrow Global is seeking a qualified Field Safety Technician to oversee day-to-day health, safety, and environmental (HSE) operations at a client site in Beaumont, TX for a 4-6 month assignment.

Note: Candidates must within driving distance of Beaumont TX. No per diem or relocation is available on this position.

In this role, you will work onsite to identify hazards, enforce safety protocols, and ensure full compliance with OSHA standards, site-specific policies, and local industrial safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Field Audits & Inspections: Perform daily job-site walkthroughs and safety audits
  • Hazard Identification & Mitigation: Monitor work activities (e.g., scaffolding, heavy equipment, construction, rigging, etc) to spot unsafe behavior or conditions, issuing Stop Work Authority when necessary.
  • Permit Compliance: Review and verify work permits, including Hot Work, Confined Space Entry, Line Breaking, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures before tasks commence.
  • Incident Reporting & Investigation: Assist in investigating near-misses, workplace accidents, and injuries. Document findings, determine root causes, and track corrective action plans.
  • Safety Meetings & Training: Facilitate daily safety tailgate/toolbox talks with craft workers and contractors. Assist with site-specific HSE orientations.
  • Equipment & Monitoring Maintenance: Inspect, calibrate, and issue safety equipment, including gas detectors, respiratory gear, fall protection, and PPE.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related technical field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 3-4 years of industrial safety experience in chemical plants, oil refineries, petrochemical processing, or heavy construction environments
  • Certifications (Must have or be able to obtain):
    • TWIC Card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) – Required for Beaumont/Golden Triangle industrial access.
    • OSHA 30-Hour (General Industry or Construction) or COSS (Certified Occupational Safety Specialist).
    • First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
  • Knowledge & Skills:
    • Strong working knowledge of OSHA 1910 and 1926 standards.
    • Proficiency with gas detection equipment and environmental monitoring devices.
    • Familiarity with Gulf Coast regional industrial safety council guidelines (e.g., ISTC/DISA standards).
    • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with plant managers, engineers, and field labor forces.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
  • 100% on-site
  • Must be able to walk, climb ladders/scaffolding, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs in outdoor Gulf Coast weather conditions (extreme heat/humidity).
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods, including hard hats, steel-toe boots, fire-retardant clothing (FRC), safety glasses, and respirators.
