Job summary

BMWC Constructors in Boise, Idaho is seeking a Safety Specialist I to support safety on large industrial construction projects. You will partner with project leaders and field teams to identify hazards, implement controls, and ensure compliance with OSHA and client requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, or related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered
• 1 to 3 years of safety experience in construction, industrial, manufacturing, or related environment
• OSHA 510 and OSHA 10 certifications preferred
• NCCER safety credential or related construction safety certification preferred
• Working knowledge of OSHA construction standards and general construction safety practices
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with project leadership, field employees, clients, and contractors
• Strong observational and problem-solving skills with the ability to recognize hazards and identify practical solutions
• Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment
• Ability and willingness to work on active construction projects and travel as required

Responsibilities

• Partner with Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Field Supervision to support day-to-day safety needs on assigned projects.
• Conduct field safety audits and inspections, identify potential hazards, and work with project teams to implement appropriate controls and corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, company, and client safety policies, procedures, and requirements.
• Support the implementation of project-specific safety plans, programs, and procedures.
• Conduct and support safety orientations, training, toolbox talks, and other project safety communications.
• Educate and coach project leadership and field employees on safety responsibilities, safe work practices, hazard recognition, and incident prevention.
• Assist with incident and near-miss investigations, documentation, corrective actions, and follow-up activities.
• Work closely with project leadership and field personnel to proactively identify and address changing safety risks throughout project execution.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, and other project partners to address safety concerns and project-specific requirements.
• Maintain accurate and organized project safety records, inspection documentation, training records, and other required safety information.
• Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
