Job summary

Stout Excavating Group is seeking a Safety Manager in West Texas to oversee and maintain the safety and health program across job sites. This full-time role involves developing safety protocols, performing risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with necessary regulations.

Candidates should have a minimum of 3–5 years of MSHA experience, strong communication and leadership skills, and an MSHA/OSHA certification. The position offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.

Compensation Range: $75,000+ annually, based on experience

Core Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for SEG’s Safety and Health Program.
  • Maintain professional communication and strong working relationships with employees, management, customers, vendors, and regulatory officials.
  • Maintain accurate records for employee training, health monitoring, incident reporting, and MSHA/OSHA compliance.
  • Build relationships with regulatory agencies and participate in inspections.
  • Evaluate safe work procedures and ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, State, Federal, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct and facilitate health and safety training programs, including curriculum development and presentation.
  • Perform on‑site safety audits and risk assessments to identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead investigations for accidents, injuries, and near‑miss incidents and develop preventative measures.
  • Assist with contractor safety oversight and review construction plans for safety considerations.
  • Support the installation and implementation of safety devices, PPE requirements, and other control measures.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to reduce workplace risks and enhance safety awareness.
  • Manage and monitor safety‑related budgets and documentation.
  • Travel to multiple work sites, including occasional overnight stays, as needed.
Qualifications

Required

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • MSHA/OSHA Safety Management certification or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of MSHA experience in mining environments.
  • Working knowledge of MSHA, OSHA, and applicable regulatory safety standards.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and report‑writing skills.
  • Strong leadership and proactive problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to travel between job sites as required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 applications.

Preferred

  • Experience with SiteDoc or similar safety management systems.
  • General knowledge of mine excavation equipment.
