Job description

Why is This a Great Opportunity?

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction safety professional to take an active leadership role supporting complex industrial construction projects. This position will support the largest construction project in Missouri history, providing the opportunity to work on a highly visible, large-scale project while directly influencing jobsite safety and field operations.

The Field Safety Manager will work closely with field teams, project leadership, and operational personnel to promote safe work practices, identify potential risks, and strengthen safety performance. Rather than being limited to administrative safety responsibilities, this is a highly field-focused position with direct involvement in how work is planned and executed.

In addition to competitive compensation, the position offers a monthly per diem for eligible employees. The organization also provides eligibility for annual discretionary bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid time off, a 401(k) matching program, and a company-funded employee ownership program.

Job Description:

The Field Safety Manager is responsible for overseeing and executing safety initiatives across assigned industrial construction projects. This is an on-site, field-based position that requires regular interaction with construction personnel and project leadership.

  • Perform documented jobsite safety inspections and audits to identify hazards, exposures, unsafe conditions, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Communicate safety observations and required corrective actions to project managers, field supervisors, foremen, and other employees.
  • Support the development, implementation, and ongoing management of project-specific safety plans and procedures.
  • Participate in jobsite safety huddles and provide coaching to field leadership to help ensure safety discussions are meaningful and effective.
  • Coach supervisors and field employees on safe work practices, hazard recognition, and appropriate corrective measures.
  • Build strong relationships with field teams to proactively identify safety risks and assess opportunities to improve overall safety performance.
  • Document safety activities, including identified hazards, corrective actions, preventive measures, best practices, and coordination with general contractors and other trades.
  • Partner with operational leaders during preconstruction and project planning to incorporate safety considerations into the execution of work.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with employees, project management, customer and contractor safety representatives, and members of the local safety and health community.
  • Monitor subcontractor activities for compliance with applicable project safety requirements, policies, and regulations.
  • Support emergency response activities and assist with the implementation of established emergency procedures.
  • Participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, documentation, and development of corrective actions designed to prevent recurrence.
  • Prepare and maintain reports related to project safety performance, inspections, audits, incidents, and corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver jobsite safety training for field and office personnel.
  • Assist with safety orientation and reorientation for new and existing employees as needed.
  • Collaborate with project managers and field leadership to address safety concerns and continuously improve jobsite safety practices.
  • Perform additional safety-related responsibilities as required to support project and organizational needs.
Qualifications:
  • 3–5 years of professional experience in a construction safety or closely related safety position.
  • Current OSHA 30 certification.
  • BCSP credential required.
  • Strong knowledge of construction jobsites, field operations, jobsite hazards, and safe work practices.
  • Experience conducting jobsite safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments.
  • Knowledge of incident investigation, root cause analysis, corrective action planning, and safety documentation.
  • Ability to effectively coach and communicate with field employees, foremen, supervisors, project managers, and other project stakeholders.
  • Experience developing or delivering construction safety training and employee safety orientations.
  • Ability to recognize potential hazards and recommend practical corrective and preventive measures.
  • Strong documentation, organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with project leadership, general contractors, subcontractors, and other trades.
  • Experience supporting industrial construction projects is highly desirable.
  • Data center or mission-critical construction experience is a plus.
  • Must be comfortable working primarily in active construction and field environments.
  • Ability to perform routine physical activity associated with jobsite work, including standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet applicable driving requirements for the position.
