Job summary

Sheakley Workforce Staffing seeks a Field Construction Safety Manager in Alexandria, VA for a 1099 contractor role. The project involves heavy civil construction, underground work in a deep shaft, and painting/control coatings with strict safety oversight.

Weekly pay, per diem, and completion bonuses are part of the compensation. The successful candidate will lead daily field safety activities, enforce fall protection and scaffold safety, and coordinate with supervision to maintain safe access

Qualifications

• OSHA 30 Construction Certification required.
• Minimum 5 years of Safety Manager experience in heavy civil/industrial construction.
• Experience with underground construction and deep shaft work.
• Strong Fall Protection and MEWP experience required.
• Scaffolding safety experience is essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily field safety oversight for painting and coating operations.
• Maintain visibility in active construction areas.
• Monitor work in deep shafts and underground environments.
• Oversee fall protection and elevated work activities.
• Supervise scaffolding erection and access compliance.
• Coordinate MEWP and aerial lift operations.
• Conduct site inspections, hazard assessments, and audits.
• Review JHAs, permits, and pre-task plans.
• Ensure PPE and respiratory protection compliance.
• Ensure OSHA and project safety requirements are met.
