Job summary

Harris County seeks a Safety Inspector to perform field-based safety inspections on construction projects and facilities under the Worksite Safety Policy. You will inspect sites, review safety documentation, and collaborate with project managers, contractors, and safety staff to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.

Minimum two years in construction safety, OSHA 30-Hour certification, and a Texas driver license are required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or related field.
• Minimum two years of construction safety experience including field inspection and incident investigation.
• OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification required.
• One of CHST, OHST, ASP-CSHO, or BCSP within 12 months of hire.
• Valid Class C Texas Driver License with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Conduct random and scheduled site safety visits and inspections.
• Issue Stop Work Orders when required and appropriate, as outlined in the Policy.
• Notify stakeholders of violations and verify corrective actions.
• Record complaints and investigate in accordance with the Policy.
• Photograph or video site conditions and prepare inspection reports within 5 business days.
• Provide training and guidance on safe work practices and PPE use.
