Job summary

Robins & Morton is seeking a Field Safety Engineer to support the Safety Management System across healthcare and other commercial projects. You will help create a safe site culture, manage risk, and lead safety onboarding for all project personnel.

Ideal candidates bring OSHA 510 and a safety-related degree, plus experience in construction safety and incident analysis. The role involves partnering with project teams and trade partners to ensure regulatory compliance and safe work practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in safety management or equivalent certification required.
  • OSHA 510 certification required (OSP 510 preferred)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret contract documents, safety standards, drawings and procedures
  • Experience in construction safety management and incident analysis
  • Experience with safety onboarding and risk assessment processes

Responsibilities

  • Review safety plans and ensure compliance with regulations and project scope.
  • Assist in claims management and development of safety management system.
  • Lead safety onboarding and weekly safety meetings on site.
  • Identify, address, and document at-risk behaviors and unsafe conditions.
  • Participate in preconstruction safety meetings and safety start-ups with trade partners.
  • Maintain records of incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide leadership and guidance on safety and risk across the project team.

Be a True Builder®. The Field Safety Engineer will assist with the Safety Management Systems of Robins & Morton. He/she will contribute to a safe and healthy work environment, utilizing his/her experience in guiding construction projects.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY:

  • Stop any observed imminent danger event/activity immediately without consultation.
  • Review trade partner safety submittals to ensure compliance with regulation and scope of work.
  • Assist in claims management process.
  • Perform additional duties agreed upon by VP of Safety Operations and project team provided additional duties do not interfere or inhibit performance of required duties.
  • Participate in preconstruction safety meetings to analyze and effectively prepare for risk issues.
  • Participate in trade partner safe-start meetings prior to their mobilization on site.
  • Assist in development and implementation of the project safety management system.
  • Participate in and/or conduct site wide safety meeting each week.
  • As warranted, initiate meeting to address endemic items of non-compliance trade partner.
  • Ensure implementation of project fair accountability procedures.
  • Assist in assessment of all project incidents (WC/GL/Near Hits) and ensure proper records are completed and submitted (Root Cause Analysis). Assist in implementation of corrective actions.
  • Provide jobsite leadership and direction relating to all areas of safety and risk.
  • Conduct or participate in and document safety onboarding for all project employees.
  • Participate in R&M performance standards evaluations, demonstrate awareness of self-development needs, and strive to achieve goals.
  • Conduct daily assessments for at risk behaviors, unsafe conditions, public protection, ICRA/ILSM & additional project risk. Ensure corrective actions are communicated, implemented & documented.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM:

  • Preferably, a Bachelor’s degree or higher in safety management or equivalent comparable certification in safety and health (ex. CHST, ASP, CSP)
  • As substitute for education, years of field experience above minimum identified below may be considered.
  • Recent three years of work history with at least one year dedicated solely to building construction safety preferable with a commercial GC/CM.
  • Practical knowledge, working experience, and documented continuing education in areas such as fall protection, scaffolding, excavations, confined spaces, crane/equipment operations, electrical, incident analysis, human performance principles, OSHA 510 certification, and other such safety/health related training. (An OSHA 10/30 Construction Outreach or OSHA 510 certification will not be acceptable proof for this training requirement. For each area of education identified above, the candidate shall possess a certificate of completion from an accredited training agency dated within four years.)
  • Specialized training for Emergency First Aid, Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) current to within two years.
  • Good written and oral communications; preferably bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret contract documents, safety standards, construction drawings, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • OSHA 510 certification. Preferably OSHA 500, CHST, and ASP.
