Job summary

Froehling & Robertson, Inc. is seeking a Safety Specialist to champion a safety-first culture on our field teams across geotechnical and construction projects in Virginia. You will coach workers, identify hazards, and promote safe work practices to prevent injuries and incidents.

The role requires 2+ years of safety experience, OSHA knowledge, and strong communication; travel and site navigation are routine. Join our team for practical training and career growth.

Qualifications

• Degree in Safety preferred.
• 2+ years of relevant safety experience.
• Current certifications in First Aid, CPR, OSHA desired.
• Working knowledge of OSHA and workplace safety practices.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license and meet F&R’s requirements for operating a company vehicle.
• Ability to work in different environments, such as cold, heat, and rain.
• Ability to travel overnight regularly.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Experience safely navigating active construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Assist Safety Manager with field visits to observe work and coach personnel.
• Reinforce PPE requirements and Stop Work Authority.
• Support safe operations across drilling, sampling, testing, excavation, utility and road work.
• Assist Safety Manager by conducting safety observations, inspections, audits, JSAs and AHAs; track corrective actions.
• Support new-hire orientation, toolbox talks, safety meetings, and training.
• Develop safety presentations and training materials tailored to observed field needs.
• Provide field-based education focused on observed hazards and prevention.
• Assist in investigating injuries, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes.
• Document findings and communicate lessons learned to prevent recurrence.
• Other duties as assigned.
