Job summary

Airswift is seeking a Rotating Equipment Engineer for a 6-month assignment at Prudhoe Bay, Alaska. You will support commissioning, startup, and early operations on rotating equipment including pumps, compressors, turbines, and generators, with hands-on troubleshooting and field collaboration.

You will coordinate with engineering, maintenance, HSE, and operations teams to ensure safe, reliable operation and develop preventive/predictive maintenance strategies for long-term asset performance.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in oil and gas or similar industrial environments.
  • Direct experience supporting commissioning and startup of new facilities.
  • Strong background in rotating equipment including pumps, compressors, turbines, and generators.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting experience in live operating environments.
  • Experience working in remote or field-based operational environments.
  • Familiarity with PSSR, commissioning processes, and startup workflows.
  • Experience working with OEMs and vendors during installation and startup.
  • Strong understanding of rotating equipment fundamentals and common failure modes.
  • Knowledge of alignment techniques, balancing, and installation best practice.
  • Understanding of lubrication systems, seal systems, and bearing design fundamentals.
  • Ability to interpret equipment performance data and trends.
  • Working knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance approaches.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems and maintenance planning processesWorking knowledge of Management of Change processes
  • Ability to review and interpret P&IDs, datasheets, and vendor documentation.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Practical, solutions-focused approach to technical problem solving
  • Ability to remain effective in fast-paced startup environments
  • Proactive approach with strong ownership and field engagement

Responsibilities

  • Support commissioning activities, pre-startup safety reviews, and startup of rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines, generators).
  • Perform system walkdowns, punch listing, mechanical completion verification, and review vendor documentation and commissioning plans.
  • Provide on-site troubleshooting and technical support during startup and early operations, diagnosing vibration, alignment, lubrication, seals, and equipment performance issues.
  • Ensure proper installation practices including alignment, grouting, and coupling setup.
  • Contribute to Management of Change processes for equipment or design modifications.
  • Develop operating and maintenance procedures for rotating equipment; support preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Collaborate with vendors, operations, maintenance, engineering, and commissioning teams to implement integrated solutions.
  • Promote safety and ensure compliance with site standards and regulatory requirements.
