Job summary

The Rapid Group seeks an experienced Rigger/Millwright/Maintenance Mechanic for field-based projects across New Jersey, Southern NJ, and the NY Metro area. The role focuses on machinery assembly, rigging, and rebuilding rotating equipment, with emphasis on safety and quality workmanship.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of hands-on experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team in dynamic field environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as rigger, millwright or maintenance mechanic.
• Experience with machinery assembly, alignment and rotating equipment.
• Skilled in rigging, hoisting, installation, alignment and commissioning.
• Sheet metal fabrication and welding (with or without blueprints).
• Proficient with machinist tools, alignment devices and measuring instruments.
• Machinist background is a plus.
• Valid driver’s license; CDL is a plus.
• Pre-employment drug testing is required.
• Fluent in English (read, write, speak).
• Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship.
• Ability to work independently or with a team.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Reliable, safety focused, and adaptable to field environments.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and align rotating and production machinery.
• Hoist, rig, install, align, remove and commission equipment.
• Disassemble, inspect, repair/rebuild and reassemble machinery.
• Fabricate sheet metal or steel and weld as needed.
• Use machinist tools, precision alignment tools and measuring instruments.
• Repair and assemble bushings, bearings, couplings, shafts, gears and wheels.
• Support field service calls across NJ, Southern NJ and NY Metro.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean work environment.
• Collaborate with team to complete projects efficiently.
