Job summary

The Rapid Group is seeking an experienced Rigger, Millwright, or Maintenance Mechanic to support industrial, commercial, municipal, and transportation sector projects. This full‑time, field‑based role covers New Jersey, Southern NJ, and the NY Metro area, focusing on machinery assembly, rigging, alignment, repair, fabrication, and field service work.

The ideal candidate will disassemble, rebuild, and install rotating equipment, weld as needed, and travel to customer sites, while upholding safety

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a rigger, millwright, or maintenance mechanic.
• Experience with machinery assembly, alignment and rotating equipment.
• Skilled in rigging, hoisting, installation, alignment, removal, and commissioning.
• Sheet metal fabrication and welding with or without blueprints.
• Proficient with machinist tools, alignment devices, and measuring instruments.
• Valid driver's license; CDL is a plus.
• Pre-employment drug testing.
• Fluent in English (read, write, speak).
• Reliable, safety-focused, and able to work in dynamic field environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform machinery assembly and alignment for rotating and production machinery.
• Conduct hoisting, rigging, installing, setting, aligning, removing, and commissioning of equipment.
• Disassemble, inspect, repair/rebuild, and reassemble rotating and production equipment in shop and field environments.
• Perform sheet metal or steel fabrication and welding with or without blueprints.
• Use machinist hand tools, precision alignment tools, and measuring instruments for setup and operation.
• Repair and assemble bushings, bearings, couplings, shafts, sleeves, rings, gears, and wheels.
• Support field service calls throughout NJ, Southern NJ, and NY Metro regions.
• Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
• Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently.
