Job summary

Fluence, a global leader in intelligent energy storage and optimization software, seeks a Resource Technician 2 in Joseph City, AZ to perform on-site preventive maintenance and troubleshooting for battery storage systems. You will implement LOTO procedures and uphold Fluence safety culture while supporting third-party vendors on O&M tasks.

Responsibilities include maintaining SCADA, inverters, MV/HV, HVAC equipment, and ensuring thorough documentation.

Qualifications

• HS Degree and 2-4 years in electrical or renewable energy industries.
• Ability to read schematic drawings and follow QC/testing procedures.
• High attention to detail and strong documentation.
• Familiarity with renewable energy systems and grid storage.
• Willingness to travel up to 3 weeks at a time.
• Willing to work overtime/weekends as needed.
• Knowledge of OSHA/NFPA/IEEE standards.
• Customer-focused interpersonal skills.

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and repairs on BESS equipment (SCADA, inverters, MV/HV, HVAC, substations).
• Knowledge and experience with lock out tag out procedures.
• Support vendors in safe execution of O&M across BESS projects.
• Maintain clear communication with supervisors, engineers, and managers via MS Teams and emails.
• Adapt to extremely hot and cold environments.
• Meet timelines and quality inspections; complete work orders.
• Hold or obtain OSHA 10, NFPA 70E, CPR certifications.
• Operate company vehicles with a valid license and good DMV record.
• Physical ability to bend, stoop, stand, lift 50 lbs.

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Resource Technician 2 to join our team. In this role, you will be performing on-site preventive maintenance and troubleshooting activities for battery storage systems and performing onsite LOTO.

Key Responsibilities

• Be responsible for site safety by utilizing best practices, building on established Fluence safety culture, and utilizing Fluence safety management systems. Utilize stop-work authority when warranted. Alert project team members immediately with issues and concerns.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and corrective repairs on various BESS equipment and related assets (including but not limited to SCADA communications, Inverters, MV (Medium Voltage) & HV operations, HVAC, substations switching & inspections, etc.).
• Knowledge and experience with lock out tag out procedures
• Support the RM in managing multiple 3rd party service vendors in the safe execution of O&M services across contracted BESS projects.
• Maintain open lines of communication to supervisors, engineers, and managers by effective use of MS Teams, emails, and other communication tools.
• Ability to adapt and work in extremely hot and cold environments.
• Held responsibility for meeting timelines and schedules, scopes of work, quality assurances and inspections, successful troubleshooting and repairs, and work orders completion.
• Either currently hold or able to immediately obtain certifications for OSHA 10, NFPA 70E, and CPR
• Able to operate company vehicles both on site as well as on public roads and highways. Must have a current driver’s license with a good DMV record.
• Requires ability to physically bend, stoop, sit, stand, walk, reach, climb ladders/steps, and lift at least 50 lbs.
• All other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications & Experience

• HS Degree and 2-4 years of experience working in the electrical or renewable energy industries within generation/operations / technical teams (solar/wind/BESS/gas/hydro/distribution).
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills related to electrical troubleshooting, reading and interpreting schematic drawings, and having the ability to follow company QC and testing procedures.
• High level of attention to detail and focus on proper documentation.
• Familiarity with renewable energy systems and grid storage solutions.
• Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., OSHA, NFPA, IEEE).
• Customer-focused mindset with strong interpersonal skills.
• Experience with service console or other work order software’s.
• Must be willing to travel frequently up to 3 weeks at a time.
• Manage time and tasks effectively with a sense of urgency, and work overtime/weekends as needed.
