Field Quality Engineer — Construction Inspections

Job summary

BRPH is seeking a Quality Field Engineer to support project-specific quality requirements on active construction and design-build projects. You will perform inspections, review submittals, and coordinate with field teams to ensure conformance to drawings, specs, and BRPH’s QMS.

The role emphasizes documentation, safety, and collaboration across trade partners and client representatives. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required, along with proficiency in Procore and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CM, CEng, CS, engineering, architecture, quality, or related field, or 5 years of relevant experience.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience reading and applying construction drawings, specs, submittals, inspection criteria, and QC procedures.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience documenting inspection evidence, coordinating corrective actions, and escalating decisions.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience with construction methods, materials, building systems, inspection/testing, document control, and field safety.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience with Microsoft Office, Procore, and mobile inspection/documentation tools.
• OSHA 10-Hour Construction Outreach Training card.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections per QC Plan and direction from the CQC Manager or project quality leader.
• Review drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and manufacturer instructions before inspecting the work.
• Monitor workmanship, materials, equipment, and installation activities for conformance with project requirements.
• Participate in preparatory, initial, and follow-up control activities as required by contract or QC plan.
• Create clear quality observations in Procore with location, reference, measurements, photos, and status.
• Identify and communicate incomplete or nonconforming work to the CQC Manager and project team.
• Stop or restrict work when quality could be affected and escalate per the escalation path.
• Assist with nonconformance reports, deficiency items, punch-list, and corrective-action records.
• Verify corrective work against acceptance criteria and submit evidence for approval.
• Coordinate inspections and tests with trade partners, third-party labs, commissioning, and authorities.
• Inspect delivered materials for conformance and maintain documentation.
• Maintain organized inspection reports and closeout documentation.
• Participate in meetings, turnover, and closeout activities.
• Raise drawing conflicts and field conditions early to avoid impacts.
• Follow document-control, safety, and PPE requirements on active sites.
• Support lessons learned and continuous-improvement activities.
