Job summary

Matrix Service Company is seeking a Quality Inspector to inspect and verify work per codes and specifications, with a preferred focus on mechanical or piping disciplines. Travel to project sites will be required with per diem as per policy.

The role involves contributing to the quality program, generating inspection reports, and recommending corrective actions to ensure compliance and safety across projects. Strong communication and MS Office skills are essential as part of daily tasks.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in quality or related craft.
• Mechanical and/or piping experience preferred.
• ACI or AWS etc. certifications preferred.
• Familiar with ASME codes listed (e.g., Sec. VIII, IX, B31.1, B31.3, API 650/653, 1104).
• Strong communication and computer skills including MS Word and Excel.

Job Summary

The Quality Inspector’s main responsibility is to inspect, accept or reject work performed in a particular discipline in compliance with applicable Codes and specifications. Preferred discipline is mechanical or piping, however, structural, electrical, and civil may be considered.

Travel Requirements

Must be willing and able to travel to assigned project site locations as required. Per diem will be provided for eligible travel assignments in accordance with company policy.

Essential Functions

• Actively support the Company's commitment to safety and its "Core Values."
• Represent the Company at all times with high moral standards while adhering to the Company's "Code of Business Conduct and Ethics."
• Provides specialized technical expertise in support of the Quality program, including specialized inspection and testing techniques, quality training, statistical methods, audits, quality tools for problem solving and assessment.
• Creates inspection reports stating the conditions of a work area to ensure requirements are met. Makes recommendations for corrective action.
• Applies knowledge of quality systems and tools to validate and verify contractually required standards for project execution. Implements principles of performance evaluation and prediction methods are used to improve product systems safety, reliability, and maintainability.
• Responsible for maintaining quality standard of products and the procedures and materials that go into work scope. Aligns quality management function with the performance needs of product lines.
• Under general supervision, and occasional direct supervision, performs assignments requiring experience and knowledge of standard concepts within their field. Displays core job competencies by analyzing possible solutions using standard procedures while developing advanced skills.
• Performs additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' minimum experience in a specific craft or working under a formal Quality Management System.
• 3 years' mechanical and/or piping experience preferred.
• ACI certification preferred and other discipline specific inspection process (e.g., AWS CWI, ASNT Level II, NACE etc.) may be considered.
• Should be familiar with ASME Sec. VIII, Sec. IX, B31.1, B31.3, API 650/653, 1104 Codes.
• Strong understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes and standards and their impact on project activities.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; good computer skills including MS Word and Excel.
