Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan in Bagdad, AZ is seeking a skilled mechanic to safely diagnose, maintain and repair pump systems and related equipment at our mining operation.

You will troubleshoot pumps, pipelines, water and hydraulic systems, perform preventative maintenance, and train others. The job requires welding skills (Stick, Mig, Intershield) and the ability to work in a safety‑driven, 24/7 environment.

Qualifications

• Two years in mechanical/maintenance crafts or equivalent experience.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Must demonstrate safety and basic welding skills as part of assessment.
• Ability to read and follow English safety instructions.
• Experience with pumps, piping and related systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and remove/repair pumps, pipelines, water systems and related components.
• Perform preventive maintenance on pumping systems and check bearings, seals, temperatures.
• Prioritize repairs and make timely decisions.
• Maintain work orders and conduct area inspections.
• Train and mentor other employees; perform welding and fabrication.
• Operate equipment (trucks, forklifts, cranes, etc.) and act as Fill-in Supervisor when needed.
• Perform other duties as required.
