Job summary

Convergint Technologies LLC is seeking a Field Project Manager to lead installation, programming, tests, and client training on Fire, Security, and Building Automation projects. You will drive project readiness, coordinate with the Project Coordinator, and supervise field staff to meet contract scope, budget, and schedule.

The ideal candidate has strong field supervision, mechanical/electrical aptitude, and experience with building automation and life-safety systems, with the ability to read

• College degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5-7 relevant experience.
• Experience in electronics, fire alarm & life safety, or building automation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee overall site management of project(s) for timely completion within budget and scope.
• Coordinate with Project Coordinator to prepare installation plan and procedures.
• Supervise field staff and subcontractors in the field.
• Mentor, coach, and develop colleagues; plan and direct work.
• Coordinate subcontractors and ensure QA standards.
• Assist in project coordination, assess scope changes, and improve customer satisfaction.
• Identify project risks and help minimize costs and schedule deviations.
• Ensure installation quality per codes and company standards.
• Install, program, test, repair, and service various systems including life safety and building automation.
• Provide technical support and training to customers; maximize satisfaction.

• Oversees overall site management of project(s) for successful and timely completion within budget and scope of work as required by the contract.
• Works with the Project Coordinator to prepare project installation plan and implement job procedures.
• Supervises Project Specialists, Installers and subcontractors in the field.
• May perform managerial responsibilities including but not limited to: mentoring, coaching and developing colleagues; planning, assigning and directing work.
• Coordinates and supervises subcontractors including directing on-site activities and verifying quality assurance standards.
• Works closely with the Project Coordinator to assist in the overall coordination of specific projects; makes recommendations regarding potential changes in scope and identifies ways to continuously improve customer satisfaction.
• Identifies potential project risks, communicates to appropriate parties and assist in the development and implementation of strategies to minimize impact and to control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines.
• Responsible for overall quality of the installation in accordance with national and local codes, and company standards.
• Installs, programs, tests, repairs, and services a variety of systems and equipment which may include security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation.
• Colleague is key interface for the provision of technical support and training for the customer and as such is accountable for maximizing customer satisfaction.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

What You’ll Need

• Exceptional customer focus and ability to regularly work under pressure; consistent ability to maintain awareness of, and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
• Strong supervision skills and installation experience related to building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems; may adapt procedures, processes, tools to meet the more complex requirements of the job.
• Strong field supervision skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and look for solutions.
• Must be a self-starter and work well without supervision.
• Advanced mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper) and ability to read blueprints and drawings; advanced math skills (for some positions, this may include calculating area, velocity, resistance, voltage, etc).
• Frequent visits to jobsites are required.
• Minimal overnight travel is required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Advanced organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Highly proficient computer skills including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
