Job description

We’re hiring our next field-focused team member — is it you?
Field Project Engineer- based in Caldwell, Idaho
Project Assignments: Utah, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Arizona

Syblon Reid is looking for a Field Project Engineer to support our Project Manager and field crews on heavy civil construction projects.

This role is an important part of keeping project work moving safely, accurately, and efficiently. The Field Project Engineer helps connect the work happening in the field with the planning, documentation, communication, production tracking, and problem-solving needed to support successful project execution.

We are a professional, hardworking team — but we are also a close group that values connection, accountability, teamwork, and people who are willing to jump in where needed. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, field exposure, technical work, and being part of challenging projects that are anything but ordinary.

Project assignments and future locations are based on business needs, and mobility is a key part of long-term success in these roles. Would you be open to exploring new opportunities? If so, are you open to temporary relocation or traveling on rotational schedules as needed to support active project locations?

In this role, you will support work such as:

  • Promoting and supporting project safety programs, processes, and safety culture
  • Preparing and tracking submittals and RFIs
  • Supporting project scheduling
  • Tracking and reporting field production, cost estimates, and invoices
  • Maintaining QC program documentation
  • Coordinating with subcontractors
  • Preparing quantity take-offs and pricing
  • Procuring materials
  • Supporting field employees and project crews
  • Conducting pre-bid and project field visits
  • Traveling overnight as project needs require

You may be a strong fit if you have a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent Project Coordination experience, along with 1–5 years of Field Project experience in heavy civil construction environment.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate strong written communication, organization, follow-through, problem-solving, and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines. This position requires someone who is comfortable working in the field, walking uneven surfaces, lifting and carrying up to 75 lbs., and supporting project needs in changing environments.

Experience with federal contracting is a big plus. Proficiency with MS Project, Excel, and Word is required. Experience with HeavyBid, HeavyJob, Primavera, or AutoCAD is preferred.

A current driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required. Candidates must also be authorized to work in the United States.

What do we have to offer?
How about adventurous projects, a strong team culture, a full benefits package, a company vehicle, and employee ownership?
