Job summary

Moss & Associates LLC seeks a Solar Electrical Field Project Engineer to support the Electrical Superintendent on large utility-scale solar projects. You will handle contract administration, change orders, submittals, procurement, and scheduling while coordinating with staff at all levels.

The role requires 6–12 months of solar field experience, strong communication and computer skills, and basic finance understanding.

Qualifications

• Six to twelve months of experience as a Solar Intern, Project Engineer, Assistant Project Engineer, or Electrical Foreman in the construction industry.
• Strong computer skills, including familiarity with construction project management applications.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required to interface directly with owners’ representatives, the A/E team, building departments, and other team members.
• Basic finance skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate project startup by reviewing the owner contract, startup checklist, and site utilization plan; coordinate mobilization and subcontractor/vendor selection; identify milestones and assist with schedule development.
• Expedite materials by creating a submittal log, establishing fabrication/delivery schedules, and reviewing submittals and drawings.
• Coordinate construction activities with the Superintendent; conduct pre-construction meetings; track activity logs and participate in schedule updates; perform quality control inspections.
• Assist with contractor insurance/bond agreements; prepare meeting agendas/minutes; manage RFI process; maintain project files and Prolog.
• Track costs by processing pay requests and updating labor cost reports; assist with change orders and cost proposals.

POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT

Moss’ Solar Electrical Field Project Engineers assist the Electrical Assistant and Electrical Project Manager in the administrative and technical management of large utility‑scale solar projects. They supervise all activities related to contract administration, change orders, submittals, procurement, and scheduling. A positive attitude and professional behavior are necessary as they interact with staff at all levels in an ever‑changing environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Coordinates project start‑up by reviewing the owner contract, developing the startup checklist and site utilization plan, coordinating mobilization, assisting with subcontractor & vendor selection, identifying critical issues & milestones, finalizing Prolog set‑up, participating in the development of the construction schedule, and orienting subcontractors.
• Expedites materials by developing a submittal log, establishing fabrication & delivery schedule, confirming delivery of materials, conducting submittal/SD review process, reviewing coordination drawings, monitoring off‑site storage, coordinating owner‑furnished materials, and verifying fabrication status.
• Coordinates construction activities by strategizing with the Superintendent, conducting subcontractor pre‑construction meetings, maintaining activity tracking logs, participating in schedule updates, conducting quality control inspections, verifying field installations, ensuring compliance with safety procedures and policies, coordinating storage of delivered materials, participating in daily superintendent and jobsite meetings, maintaining the material expediting log, participating in project team visits, coordinating activities with user groups, and assisting with agency inspections.
• Facilitates project administration by expediting subcontractor and vendor agreements, assisting with contractor insurance & bond agreements, preparing meeting agendas and minutes, assisting in managing the check‑hold list, maintaining jobsite files, processing progress photos, assisting in preparation of project status reports, coordinating activities with project staff, maintaining Prolog, generating correspondence, administering the RFI process, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Tracks project costs by processing subcontractor and vendor pay requests, assisting with tracking owner payments, tracking subcontractor back‑charges, and updating labor cost reports.
• Supports management for change‑order process by creating change requests, reviewing scope changes, determining schedule impacts, issuing owner notification, expediting subcontractor and vendor pricing, preparing cost proposals, and negotiating proposal costs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
