Job summary

Brayman Construction Corporation is hiring a full-time Project / Field Engineer to support Deep Foundations & Geotechnical construction on a major Ohio River Tunnel Project. The role involves assisting the Project Manager and Superintendent with contract management, scheduling, cost tracking, and field coordination.

Strong safety leadership and communication are essential as the project advances through phases.

  • Experience with heavy civil or geotechnical work including dams, drilling, caissons, shotcrete, etc., is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Deep Foundations & Geotechnical construction projects under PM and Superintendent.
  • Assist with contract management, change orders, scheduling, and cost tracking.
  • Maintain safety oversight and quality control processes on site.
  • Manage vendor/supplier relations and project buyout activities.
  • Develop RFIs, submittals, and purchase orders for review.
  • Support monthly financial reporting projections.
  • Assist with estimating tasks and take-offs for new work.

Job description

Brayman Construction is hiring a full-time Project / Field Engineer to support Deep Foundations & Geotechnical construction at the newly awarded ALCOSAN Ohio River Tunnel Project. This large scale, long‑term project is designed to reduce combined sewer overflows (CSO), requiring strong field leadership and rigorous safety oversight. Job Summary

The Field / Project Engineer will be responsible for assisting the Project Manager and Superintendent in overseeing Deep Foundations & Geotechnical construction projects, including contract management, change order preparation, project schedule updating, vendor/supplier management, quantity tracking, production analysis, progress billing, resource allocation, estimating, and material pricing/project buyout.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Actively participates in project safety programs, observations and audits.
  • Assists Project Managers and Superintendents with project‑related tasks.
  • Tracks and reports quantities of work performed and understands associated costs.
  • Assists with quality control processes and testing operations.
  • Communicates productivities to field staff.
  • Understands and communicates contract scope to field staff.
  • Serves as liaison and ensures communication between the field and office.
  • Acts as the primary engineer and contract administrator on small and midsize projects.
  • Assists in identifying and promoting changes to improve productivities and quality on the project.
  • Effectively communicates with Project Owner/Designer/Architect/Engineering regarding project schedule, issues and activities occurring on the project.
  • Develops RFIs, work plans and submittals for the project.
  • Assists in monthly financial reporting projections.
  • Develops extra work or change order negotiation pricing.
  • Prepares time and material final pricing submittals.
  • Drafts purchase orders and subcontract agreements for review by the Project Manager.
  • Assists with CPM schedule development and maintenance.
  • Maintains as‑built drawings and data collection with assistance from field staff.
  • Performs project‑specific tasks assigned by higher level manager.
  • Assists with new project estimating tasks: take‑off, scope reviews, subcontractor and supplier solicitation, new work pricing.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Management) or equivalent experience in the construction industry.
  • Experience with various types of heavy civil or geotechnical work, including mass concrete, post‑tensioning, dams, drilling, soil nails, caissons, tie‑backs, shotcrete, and slurry walls, is preferred.
Safety Sensitive Position

This is a safety sensitive position requiring work on project sites, including federal projects. The role may require working at heights, in confined spaces, around heavy equipment, around high voltage, and under constantly changing circumstances. It will be subject to more stringent drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a federal contractor.
