Job summary

Central State University is seeking a Technical/ Program Assistant (Part-Time) to support the NRCS Advancing Markets for Producers project across statewide operations. You will help with field implementation, sample collection, data management, and outreach under team guidance.

The role requires strong communication, independent work, and flexibility to travel within the state. Entry into the position is contingent on funding through Oct 31, 2028 and a background check.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in agriculture, horticulture, environmentalscience, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work with both urban and rural farmers.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and flexible schedule (some evenings/weekends).
  • Experience with field data collection or project support is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in establishing farmer field studies and demonstration plots following protocols.
  • Collect and process soil, plant, and manure samples; maintain data logs.
  • Distribute, track, and manage project supplies and equipment.
  • Support producer engagement activities and basic outreach materials.
  • Collaborate with team to meet project objectives and ensure safety.
