FPGA Design Engineer (Software Defined Radio)

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced FPGA Design Engineer to design, develop, and test FPGA-based capabilities for mission-critical applications. This role offers the opportunity to work hands-on with Software Defined Radio (SDR) technologies in a fast-paced R&D environment focused on innovation, rapid development, and practical engineering solutions. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop cutting-edge FPGA and embedded solutions while contributing throughout the entire product development lifecycle-from research and architecture through implementation, testing, and deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test FPGA-based SDR solutions.
- Research signal processing techniques, communication protocols, and FPGA technologies.
- Develop system architectures and design documentation.
- Implement and optimize VHDL/Verilog code for FPGA applications.
- Develop software supporting FPGA configuration, control, and data processing.
- Simulate, debug, test, and validate FPGA designs.
- Collaborate with hardware, software, and field engineers during system integration.
- Optimize system performance and troubleshoot hardware/software issues.
- Maintain coding standards and version control practices.
- Support field testing and system validation.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical knowledge sharing.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience developing Software Defined Radio (SDR) solutions.
- Strong VHDL programming experience.
- Experience with FPGA development tools such as Xilinx Vivado or Intel Quartus.
- Linux development experience.
- Experience with Git, SVN, or Mercurial.
- Active DoD Secret Clearance (Top Secret/SCI preferred).
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- RF communications experience.
- Experience using RF test equipment (Spectrum Analyzer, Vector Signal Generator, RSA).
- Experience with C and Python.
- Advanced VHDL development experience.
- Experience with FPGA debugging tools such as ChipScope or SignalTap.
- Previous mentoring or technical leadership experience.
