Job summary

Stantec is seeking on-call Paleontological Technicians for short- and long-term project work to support construction monitoring, field surveys, fossil collection, data collection, and related tasks across California. The role requires flexibility to respond to changing schedules and staffing needs.

Candidates should have a degree in paleontology/geology/biology with field training, at least 2 years of field experience, and willingness to travel and work outdoors in varied conditions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in paleontology, geology, or biology with field training.
• Minimum 2 years’ field experience in paleontology and sedimentary geology.
• Travel, night work, and outdoor conditions required.

Responsibilities

• Lead field data collection and reporting with emphasis on stratigraphic documentation.
• Communicate effectively with Stantec supervisors and respond to instructions.
• Assist with drafting portions of reports as required.
• Comply with safety procedures and professional standards.
• Maintain professionalism with colleagues and clients.
