Job summary

Energy Transfer Partners, L.P. is seeking a Field Optimization Engineer in Texas to perform hydraulic and process modeling, identify improvements, and drive field projects.

You will manage regional gas gathering, processing and treating plant initiatives from scope through commissioning, coordinating with the Construction Group to meet design and safety standards. The role requires a Bachelor’s in an engineering discipline and 5+ years of related experience, with strong knowledge of engineering

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in Engineering Discipline (ChemE or ME preferred).
  • 5+ years of combined engineering, operations, and/or project experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft products and engineering programs.
  • Experience level varies by role: Engineer, Senior Engineer, Staff/Principal with 3–20+ years.

Responsibilities

  • Perform system hydraulic modeling and process modeling to identify opportunities and projects.
  • Run compressor performance checks to ensure reliable field compression.
  • Manage regional gas gathering, processing and treating plant projects and capital growth programs.
  • Execute full project cycle for growth capital projects from scope and design to commissioning.
  • Coordinate with Construction Group during engineering projects and site work.
  • Meet cost and schedule targets and communicate with stakeholders across disciplines.
  • Participate in PSM activities including PHAs, LO-PAs, MOCs and training.
  • Review designs, drawings and studies for technical quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable regulations and internal safety standards.

Job description

  • Field Optimization Engineer will perform system hydraulic modeling and process modeling to identify areas of opportunity and projects for improved operational performance
  • Fiel Optimization Engineer will perform compressor performance runs to ensure optimal field compression performance for operational reliability.
  • Field Optimization Engineer is responsible for regional gas gathering and processing and treating plant projects, field gathering projects, and will manage these capital growth projects and/or other operations or commercial-derived projects meeting project scope, budget, and schedule requirements.
  • Implement entire project cycle for growth capital projects including: scope and design development, AFE preparation and submittals, material procurement, execution and construction oversite, commissioning, and project completion.
  • Work with (and guide) the Construction Group members in construction and inspection activities on engineering projects.
  • Projects are driven by cost and schedule to meet commercial commitments.
  • Communicate with stakeholders including operations personnel, cost controls, project controls, project planning, and contractors for project implementation.
  • Participate in PSM activities for growth projects and develop and implement PSM work, including Design reviews, PHAs, LOPAs, MOCs, training, etc.
  • Responsible for technical review of designs, drawings, and studies.
  • Ensure work complies with federal, state, and local regulations (including safety, environmental, and DOT) and internal policies and procedures.
  • Work with system planning engineering group to develop projects that follow engineering standards, code compliance, proper company and safety standards, and good engineering practices.
  • Proactively seeks opportunities to broaden and deepen project management knowledge base and proficiencies.

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

Bachelor’s in Engineering Discipline (ChemE or ME preferred)

Previous experience in Natural Gas treating, fractionation, or processing industry

5+ years ofcombined engineering, operations, and/or project experience

Working knowledge of Microsoft Products and Engineering Programs

Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:

  • The Engineer levelrequires a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 3-6 years of relevant job-related experience
  • The Senior Engineer levelrequires a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 6-8 years of relevant job-related experience
  • The Senior Engineer II levelrequires a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 8+ years of relevant job-related experience
  • The Staff Engineer levelrequires Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 12+ years of relevant job-related experience
  • The Principal Engineer levelrequires Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 20+ years of relevant job-related experience with a strong preference for a PE license

Working Conditions:

Normal office working conditions or at theproject site.

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.

Overnight travel is required when necessary to manage projects.

Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settingsmay include exposure to various materials and chemicals,extreme temperature conditions, and loud machinery and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
